In yet another embarrassment for the BJP, its much-hyped claim of conducting “artificial rain” in Delhi to curb pollution has fallen flat. AAP Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj said the BJP government has committed fraud even in the name of rain. Citing the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) report that confirmed no rainfall anywhere in Delhi on Tuesday, Saurabh Bharadwaj said, “The BJP government claimed to have carried out artificial rainfall, but not a single drop fell in any part of the city.”
MLAs from Kondli and Burari, Kuldeep Kumar and Sanjeev Jha, also confirmed that there was no rain in their constituencies. “It seems even Lord Indra is upset with the BJP,” Saurabh Bharadwaj remarked, pointing out that there was no trace of rain in Central Delhi either.
Taking potshots at the BJP government for claiming to conduct artificial rain in Delhi, senior AAP leader and Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj said, “There were two news reports today. One said that Delhi might see rainfall, since on Monday evening — during Chhath — there had already been light drizzle. The other said the government could attempt artificial rain. But BJP people can never be trusted. If Lord Indra makes it rain, BJP ministers will hold a press conference and claim that it was their doing. Lord Indra won’t come down to clarify who caused the rain — so BJP will take full advantage of it. This government can even claim credit for Lord Indra’s work because, after all, they’ll have to make a payment to the contractor for the rain.”
The AAP Delhi Unit Chief added, “There is no machine, mantra, or technology that can tell whether the rain was brought by Lord Indra or by the BJP government, which commits fraud and theft in everything.”
Later in the day, around 4:30 PM, Saurabh Bharadwaj personally visited Central Delhi to inspect whether any artificial rain was actually taking place. “There wasn’t the slightest sign of rain anywhere in Central Delhi,” he said. “The few clouds that were there — even those seem to have been driven away by BJP. Lord Indra himself seems to have distanced from them. On Monday evening, during Chhath Puja, there was light drizzle. BJP then thought — since rain is likely, let us spice it up and claim that it’s our artificial rain. But the moment BJP announced that they would cause rainfall on Tuesday, the clouds got angry and disappeared. As a result, there’s no sign of rain anywhere.”
Saurabh Bharadwaj added that in Central Delhi’s Lutyens’ zone — which includes the residence of BJP minister Parvesh Verma and even the Prime Minister’s residence — the ground was completely dry. “Not a single drop of rain has fallen here,” he said. “Now they won’t declare that they’re causing rain. They’ll wait for an actual shower — and the moment Lord Indra brings rain, they’ll steal even that credit and say, ‘We made it rain,’ because Lord Indra will bring the rain while the BJP government will foot the bill.”
