The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) tore into the BJP government for orchestrating a massive pollution data fraud in Delhi. AAP Delhi President Saurabh Bharadwaj released a video from the ISBT Pollution Monitoring Station showing MCD tankers continuously spraying water around the sensors to artificially lower AQI readings, calling it “data management, not pollution control.”
The AAP Delhi Unit Chief Saurabh Bharadwaj took to ‘X’ and wrote: “BJP Government – Pollution Data Fraud. Water is being sprayed day and night at the Delhi pollution monitoring station to reduce the pollution and AQI readings. These are the same people who say there is no dishonesty in EVMs. When they engage in dishonesty in everything, what can be expected from them?”
Senior AAP leader and former Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia also shared the video on X, hitting out at the BJP. He wrote, “Pollute the air, dilute the data—hide the truth with water and mask the lie with makeup. This is the BJP’s pollution control model.”
Saurabh Bharadwaj said the BJP-ruled MCD trucks were deliberately circling the Delhi government’s pollution monitoring station to artificially bring down pollution readings. “These trucks are circling around the station and spraying water continuously to make the pollution data appear lower than it actually is,” he said.
The AAP Delhi Unit Chief stated that such a large-scale fraud has now become the BJP’s governance model. “Those who are committing this massive fraud are the same BJP people who now occupy positions in Delhi’s government, MCD, and the central government. They have no interest in reducing pollution; their only concern is to manipulate the data,” said Saurabh Bharadwaj.
Recounting the incident, he said, “When we saw this happening, we told the drivers to stop spraying and leave the spot. But we had already recorded the video, which clearly shows how three trucks were spraying water around the monitoring station. Water was flowing across the road, and until a few moments earlier, the monitoring station itself was being sprayed.”
Saurabh Bharadwaj added that as soon as people with cameras arrived, the trucks were hurriedly ordered to leave. “The theft was caught red-handed, so the trucks fled. The Aam Aadmi Party has exposed this fraud, where three trucks were caught manipulating pollution readings. Perhaps nowhere else in the world would you find such large-scale data manipulation. Huge quantities of petrol and water are being wasted—not to reduce pollution, but only to show lower pollution figures,” said Saurabh Bharadwaj.
Senior leader and MLA Sanjeev Jha criticised the BJP over the data fraud, remarking on X: “The BJP’s Delhi government has introduced a new ‘ninja technique’ to fight pollution. This is not air cleaning, it’s data washing. Water is being sprayed 24 hours a day around the pollution monitoring stations so that the real figures of pollution never appear.”
