AAP Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj took a direct swipe at Chief Minister Rekha Gupta over her claim of cleaning the Yamuna and Delhi’s air within eight months, calling it nothing more than empty boasting. He advised the Chief Minister to “stop bragging about cleaning the Yamuna and the air without doing any real work,” and challenged her to “drink a litre of Yamuna water from Kalindi Kunj” if she truly believed her own claim.
The AAP Delhi Unit Chief added that instead of indulging in false publicity, the BJP government should “focus on genuine efforts to clean the Yamuna and purify Delhi’s air — then there will be no need for hollow propaganda.”
In a video message on X, senior AAP leader and Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj on Sunday challenged BJP Delhi President Virendra Sachdeva and CM Rekha Gupta over their claim that the BJP government has cleaned the Yamuna in just eight months. Saurabh Bharadwaj said, “Virendra Sachdeva and CM Rekha Gupta are saying that their government has cleaned the Yamuna in just eight months. I am ready to accept their claim — but both of them should come to Kalindi Kunj and drink one litre of Yamuna water each. If they do that, I will believe that they have cleaned the Yamuna. After all, who are Virendra Sachdeva and CM Rekha Gupta trying to fool?”
The AAP Delhi Unit Chief further said that the BJP has been exposed by its own actions. “When the AAP government used to add anti-foaming chemicals in the Yamuna to reduce froth, BJP leaders — including the current Water Minister Parvesh Verma — would create a ruckus, saying that poison was being mixed in the Yamuna and that the AAP government would kill everyone. But today, the same BJP government has floated a tender for the same chemical and is using it to reduce the froth,” Saurabh Bharadwaj said.
“The BJP government can reduce foam, but it cannot reduce pollution. If the BJP has actually reduced pollution, then CM Rekha Gupta should prove it. On this Diwali, both Virendra Sachdeva and Rekha Gupta should come to Kalindi Kunj and drink one litre of Yamuna water each. Whether the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) accepts it or not, I will believe the Yamuna is clean,” Saurabh Bharadwaj added.
