After the Supreme Court lifted the ban on green firecrackers in Delhi, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)’s Delhi President Saurabh Bharadwaj launched a strong rebuke against those who had labelled Chief Justice of India, B.R. Gavai, as “anti-Sanatan.” The AAP Delhi Unit Chief said that it was Justice Gavai himself who removed the ban on Wednesday — the same judge whom certain individuals had once abused, hurled shoes at, and insulted by calling him an enemy of Sanatan Dharma. “Those people must now apologise to the nation and to Justice Gavai,” Saurabh Bharadwaj demanded.
During a media interaction, AAP Delhi Unit President Saurabh Bharadwaj stated, “In 2018 too, the Supreme Court had once allowed green firecrackers. But when it realised that pollution levels were rising, the same court imposed a complete ban on firecrackers in Delhi and the National Capital Region. Now, the CJI B.R. Gavai has lifted that ban.”
Condemning the personal attacks on the judge, Saurabh Bharadwaj said, “Those who had called Justice Gavai an enemy of Sanatan and abused him and Babasaheb Ambedkar must apologise today. They should understand that throwing shoes, making casteist remarks, using foul language, and making memes against a judge sitting on the chair of justice is shameful. This should never have happened.”
