Acting on the instructions of AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal, Delhi unit president Saurabh Bharadwaj on Wednesday morning left for flood-ravaged Punjab with the first consignment of relief material, marking the beginning of AAP’s aid dispatch from Delhi to the disaster-hit state.
AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal announced that Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj is reaching Punjab with flood relief material. “Every day, AAP leaders, MLAs, MPs, and common citizens from Delhi will carry trucks of relief supplies to Punjab and serve the affected people. Many RWAs and traders are also extending their support at their own level in this tragedy. People from across the country are coming forward to help Punjab. Today, the entire nation stands with Punjab,” he affirmed.
Meanwhile, senior AAP leader and Punjab Prabhari Manish Sisodia wrote on X: “AAP leaders and volunteers are wholeheartedly stepping forward to help their brothers and sisters affected by floods in Punjab. Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj is reaching Punjab today with relief material.”
Before leaving Delhi for Punjab with the relief material on Wednesday morning, AAP Delhi unit chief Saurabh Bharadwaj told the media that Punjab has been struck by a devastating flood, which has caused massive destruction of crops, livestock, property, and livelihoods. “The AAP government in Punjab, its ministers and MLAs, and people from all sections, including leaders of different parties, are engaged in relief efforts,” he noted.
Recalling Arvind Kejriwal’s message on Tuesday, he added, “Everyone should serve in whichever way they can. Because whenever India or even the world has faced calamities — be it floods, earthquakes, or wars between nations — it is always our Punjabi and Sikh brothers who are the first to start langars. The service of gurdwaras reaches places even before the media can.”
Saurabh Bharadwaj said that AAP’s former MLA Durgesh Pathak from Rajendra Nagar, along with the people of Delhi, has contributed to sending the first consignment of relief material for Punjab’s flood victims. “As per Arvind Kejriwal’s directions, I am personally accompanying this truck to Punjab. From now on, every day AAP volunteers will carry such trucks and serve Punjab with full dedication — body, mind, and resources,” he stated.
“All AAP workers have been told to help in whatever way possible. Punjabis and Sikhs have always stood by the entire country. What we are doing today is inspired by the selfless tradition of service they have upheld for centuries,” asserted Saurabh Bharadwaj.
In another post on X, Saurabh Bharadwaj wrote: “Punjab is battling severe floods, and the Punjab Government, its ministers, and people are fully engaged in relief operations. Yesterday, Arvind Kejriwal appealed to everyone to come forward in the service of those in need. Our Punjabi and Sikh brothers are always the first to open langars and serve in every disaster. Today, the first consignment of relief material is being dispatched from Delhi to Punjab. On Arvind Kejriwal’s directions, I too am going along with this material to Punjab.”
