The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Tuesday tore into the BJP and Modi government over the Enforcement Directorate (ED) raid at Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj’s residence, with National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal, senior leader Manish Sisodia, MP Sanjay Singh, Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Atishi, and National Media In-charge Anurag Dhanda declaring the action a fabricated case and yet another example of the blatant misuse of central investigative agencies.
AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal, in a post on X, stated, “The ED raid at Saurabh Bhardwaj’s house is another case of the Modi government misusing agencies. The Modi government has gone after the Aam Aadmi Party. The way AAP is being targeted has never been done to any party in history. AAP is being targeted because it is the most vocal voice against the Modi government’s wrong policies and corrupt deeds. The Modi government wants to suppress our voice. This will never happen. AAP is not one to be scared of these BJP raids. We will continue to raise our voice against wrong policies and corruption in the interest of the country, as always.”
Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann also linked the raid to the ongoing national debate on PM Narendra Modi’s academic credentials. He posted, “The ED raid on Saurabh Bharadwaj on Tuesday was carried out because, since Monday, the entire country has been discussing whether Modi ji’s degree is fake. This raid was staged to divert attention. Remember, Satyendar Jain was kept in jail for three years, and later CBI and ED filed closure reports in court. This proves that all cases against AAP leaders are fabricated and false.”
In a video message, senior AAP leader and Punjab Prabhari Manish Sisodia said, “Since August 25, there has been a nationwide debate about Narendra Modi’s degree. When the truth came out, BJP ordered an ED raid at Saurabh Bharadwaj’s house to divert attention. I ask the BJP—does it admit that Modi lied to the nation about his degree, or did BJP itself mislead the people?”
Manish Sisodia asserted that this was BJP’s standard playbook. “Whenever a big issue comes up, BJP uses ED or CBI raids to change the news cycle. The raid on Saurabh Bharadwaj is completely fake. The case being referred to is about 24 hospital construction projects in 2018–19, when Saurabh Bharadwaj was not even a minister. Conducting a raid on a non-minister is absurd. This is nothing but a conspiracy to distract from the degree controversy.”
He further declared, “Neither fake degrees will work, nor fake cases. In the court of public opinion, Modi’s degree has already been exposed as fake. In courts of law, cases against AAP leaders are also being exposed as fake. Take the example of Satyendar Jain. His case was proven false. The rest of the cases will also be proven false.”
In a post on X, Manish Sisodia reiterated, “On Monday, the entire nation questioned Modi ji’s degree. When the truth came out, an ED raid was staged at Saurabh Bharadwaj’s residence to divert attention. The question was simple: Is Modi ji’s degree fake? But the BJP did not have the courage to answer. Instead, raids were conducted on AAP leaders. The case cited dates back to a time when Saurabh was not a minister. This clearly proves that just like their degree is fake, so are these cases. Remember Satyendar Jain—he was kept in jail for three years, CBI and ED searched endlessly, but found nothing. The truth is, all these cases are fabricated. The real agenda is not justice but an attempt to suppress AAP’s honesty.”
In a video message, senior AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh slammed the Modi government, calling the case against Saurabh Bharadwaj “baseless, false and fabricated.” He said, “The case under which this raid has been conducted relates to a period when Saurabh Bharadwaj was not even a minister. Yet a false case is being used to trap him. Look at Satyendar Jain’s example—after keeping him in jail for three years, even the CBI admitted there was no evidence against him. BJP and the Modi government have made it a policy to frame AAP leaders in false cases, jail them, and try to crush them.”
Sanjay Singh asked, “Why was the raid at Saurabh Bharadwaj’s house suddenly conducted on August 26? The answer is clear—it was to bury the debate around Modi ji’s fake degree. BJP always changes the issue through such actions. The honesty and integrity of AAP leaders is known to the entire country. False cases cannot harass us, cannot bend us, and cannot stop us. No matter how hard Modi, Amit Shah, or BJP try, they will not succeed.”
AAP’s National Media In-charge Anurag Dhanda also declared the raid “fake and baseless,” noting that its sole purpose was to suppress the nationwide debate on Narendra Modi’s degree. He said, “Since Monday, the country has been debating whether Modi ji’s degree is fake. This raid was ordered only to divert attention. The period cited by the ED was one when Saurabh Bharadwaj was not even a minister. Saurabh himself clarified in a press conference that the allegation was from a time when he was not holding office. This proves the case is entirely fake.”
Anurag Dhanda reminded the media of Satyendar Jain’s case. “BJP kept him in jail for three years, but the agency had to surrender in court saying there was no evidence. The case was closed. It was entirely fake. This case is no different. Fake cases and fake raids are being staged only to bury the PM Modi’s fake degree controversy. From Monday, Amit Shah has been giving statements to create headlines, and today this raid was ordered to create more headlines. Every AAP leader jailed so far has been incarcerated without evidence. All cases are fake.”
