The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has hit back at the BJP over repeated waterlogging in Delhi and rain-related deaths, with Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj declaring the BJP government a “Vipda” for the city. He said the ruling dispensation cannot mask its failure to prevent flooding by shifting blame onto others — much like the BJP’s central government blames Nehru for everything, its Delhi government now seeks to hold Arvind Kejriwal responsible.
Later on Friday evening, AAP Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj visited the Nizamuddin Dargah collapse site, where a historic structure known as Dargah Patte Shah had collapsed following heavy rainfall. The AAP Delhi unit chief has demanded urgent administrative action to prevent further rain-related deaths. During this, AAP’s local councillor Sarika Chaudhary was also present.
Senior AAP leader and Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj questioned Chief Minister Rekha Gupta over her government’s repeated attempts to blame Arvind Kejriwal for every failure in Delhi. He asked, “On Thursday, in the Kalkaji area, when a tree fell on a man and he tragically died—did Arvind Kejriwal cut that tree? After the BJP came to power, when school fees were increased by 50 to 80 percent—did Arvind Kejriwal increase them? When power cuts began across the city after the BJP took charge—is Arvind Kejriwal cutting the electricity?”
The AAP Delhi Unit Chief said that despite the BJP government’s tall claims on desilting, Delhi is completely waterlogged, and nearly two dozen people have lost their lives so far this monsoon. “Seven people at a time are dying due to wall collapses. This year alone, over two dozen people have died in Delhi from rain-related disasters. Is Arvind Kejriwal responsible for that too? Rekha Gupta’s government must start working. Without delivering results and merely making big speeches, neither Rekha Gupta’s image nor the lives of Delhi’s people will improve,” he remarked.
He pointed out, stating that the BJP’s four-engine government has no interest in governance, instead resorting to the same tired excuse of blaming Arvind Kejriwal for every shortcoming—just as the BJP-led central government blames Nehru ji for everything. The BJP government must stop running from accountability—the people of Delhi elected them to work, not to point fingers at the former government and Arvind Kejriwal to shirk responsibility,” said Saurabh Bharadwaj.
Negligence of BJP Government Claims Lives of Two Children: AAP
The Aam Aadmi Party expressed deep sorrow over the deaths of two young boys in Basant Nagar, Vasant Vihar, after a DDA wall collapsed. AAP leaders visited the site, met with the bereaved families, conveyed condolences, and assured all possible assistance. The party stated that the negligence of the BJP’s four-engine government has extinguished the light in two more homes. Both children, aged 9, died a painful death due to the collapse.
Not Cars but Boats Will Run in Delhi—BJP Government Has Arranged World-Class Rafting: Jarnail Singh
Meanwhile, Tilak Nagar AAP MLA Jarnail Singh posted a video on X on Friday of himself boating in waterlogged streets. He said, “Those who were planning to go to Rishikesh for rafting can cancel their trip. Rekha Gupta’s government has arranged first-class rafting in every street, lane, and colony of Delhi. All that Delhiites need is to buy a small boat worth a few thousand rupees. If you go to Rishikesh, it costs money. Buy a boat permanently because Rekha Gupta’s government is incapable of preventing waterlogging. Every rainy season, waterlogging will happen in Delhi. Now you can enjoy rafting in every lane and colony.”
“Delhiites will have to endure this rusted four-engine government for another four-and-a-half years—so bear with the government and enjoy this rafting too. This facility has been provided in every street by Rekha Gupta’s government. You can enjoy it nearby as well—no tax, rafting is completely tax-free,” stated the AAP MLA.
Jarnail Singh further wrote on X, “Not cars but boats will run now. Enjoy free ‘river rafting’ in Delhi. The four-engine government has completely failed to stop waterlogging in the city.”
AAP Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj visits Nizamuddin Dargah collapse site, demands urgent administrative action to prevent further rain-related deaths
AAP Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj expressed deep concern over the tragic incident at the Nizamuddin Dargah complex, where a historic structure known as Dargah Patte Shah collapsed following heavy rainfall. “The entire Nizamuddin Dargah complex had a beautiful old structure called Dargah Patte Shah. From what I have been told in my interactions with locals, around 4 PM there was heavy rain. Due to water accumulation nearby, the building collapsed, and six people lost their lives inside it. Several others were injured, and the administration has now shifted them to hospitals. Some have been admitted to AIIMS, and I believe one person has been taken to the Aruna Asaf Ali Hospital. Our councillor Sarika from the area, who was here, informed me about this.”
“Locals say that for the past three months of this monsoon season, Delhi has been facing repeated incidents — trees falling, walls collapsing, roofs giving way, electricity poles toppling. Around 30 people have died in Delhi so far. Our message to the administration is simple: fix your work and take immediate corrective measures,” said Saurabh Bharadwaj.
Responding to the District Magistrate’s remarks about possible encroachment at the site, Saurabh Bharadwaj said, “To shift the blame, they will file cases against others. If you ask the DM questions, the DM will say, ‘Why are you asking me? First, I’ll file a case against you so the public gets scared.’ These scare tactics are outdated. There is a systemic issue here — wherever there is an Archeological Survey of India (ASI) monument, there is a law passed by Parliament that ends up becoming a hurdle. If people try to repair structures near such monuments, ASI officials come demanding money, so no one is able to carry out repairs. This problem exists not just here, but in places like Panchsheel Park, Chirag Delhi, and Shahpur Jat, where even homeowners cannot make repairs without ASI interference. This system needs reform.”
On AAP’s next steps, the AAP Delhi Unit Chief said, “We can only keep requesting the government. We have been saying continuously that mere talk will not solve the problem — ministers and the Chief Minister must go on the ground themselves. Look at where we are — Nizamuddin Dargah is world famous, part of a UNESCO heritage site along with Humayun’s Tomb and Sunder Nursery. Yet, the entire road here is filled with sewage water — and not just a small puddle, but knee-deep water that has been here for almost 15 days. Imagine what people visiting a UNESCO world heritage site like Humayun’s Tomb must be thinking when they see this condition.”
