Association of Students for Alternative Politics (ASAP), the student wing of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), held a powerful protest in University of Delhi’s (DU) North Campus, demanding accountability for the institutional corruption and gross mismanagement in the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) recruitment process.
As a symbolic expression of student outrage, protesters conducted a mock funeral procession of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and set his effigy ablaze. The demonstration was attended by senior office-bearers and volunteers of ASAP, including: Eeshna Gupta, Dharmendra Rawat, Rahul Rai, State President Kuldeep Bidhuri, General Secretary Om Singh, Vice Presidents Fahad Sherwani, Anusha Singh, Abhishek Kumar, and Kamal Tiwari, Joint Secretaries Praveen Chaudhary, Sagar Gautam.
Speaking at the protest, ASAP General Secretary Om Singh said, “The students of this country feel more insecure today than ever before. This is not mere negligence — it is a well-orchestrated conspiracy. It is shameful that Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has maintained complete silence on the matter. Is his silence an indication of complicity or protection?”
“ASAP demands a fair and independent investigation into the SSC scam. All responsible officials must be arrested, and the injustice being done to students must be stopped immediately. The youth of this nation will not remain silent — our struggle will continue on every front,” affirmed Om Singh.
Eeshna Gupta, a senior student leader of ASAP, said, “The SSC recruitment process has been plagued by corruption and irregularities for years. And when students take to the streets to demand justice, they are met with repression and suppression.”
“This is not just a fight for jobs — it is a battle to overhaul the system. We stand with every student demanding justice,” she said. “ASAP has made it clear — this is just the beginning. If the government continues to shut its eyes to this crisis, this movement will intensify and spread across the country. Every student will rise in protest.”
ASAP has vowed to escalate the agitation unless concrete action is taken. The protest signals a growing wave of youth-led resistance to systemic corruption in recruitment processes, and reflects a deepening crisis of trust in institutions meant to serve the aspirations of India’s young population.
