After the tragic roof collapse in Rajasthan, another horrifying incident has come to light—this time from Hapur district in Uttar Pradesh, where the ceiling of a government school caved in on students. Adding to the outrage, the BJP has reportedly used a Delhi government school as a venue for a political event. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has slammed the BJP, charging it with criminal negligence toward public education.
Senior AAP leader and former Delhi Education Minister Manish Sisodia stated that back-to-back school building collapses in BJP-ruled states expose the party’s utter disregard for the safety of children. “The BJP is obsessed with building five-star offices, while children keep dying in crumbling classrooms. Their priorities are shamefully clear,” he said.
Taking to X, Manish Sisodia wrote, “Now, in UP’s Hapur, a government school roof has collapsed. The children were attending class when the roof came crashing down on them. First it was Jhalawar in Rajasthan, now Hapur. All across the country, crumbling school buildings are claiming innocent lives.”
He further stated, “The BJP has an obsession with building 5-star party offices, but when it comes to schools, their politics is to let them rot into ruins. Children may die or get injured in government schools—why would the BJP care? Their district offices are now no less than 5-star hotels. If government schools were their priority, perhaps these painful tragedies could have been prevented.”
Manish Sisodia had also issued strong reactions on Friday and Saturday, when two back-to-back school roof collapses were reported in Rajasthan. He had said, “Under BJP rule, on Friday, children lost their lives in Jhalawar, and on Saturday, yet another government school roof collapsed in Rajasthan. News of school roofs caving in has become the ‘new normal’ under BJP governments. The people of this country are watching as not just school roofs, but the future of children and the entire education system are collapsing under BJP rule.”
Meanwhile, the AAP has expressed strong objections to the use of a Delhi government school for a BJP political programme. Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj stated on X, “The BJP Karol Bagh district held a political programme inside the auditorium of S.C.A.V. Government Co-Ed School, Rajendra Nagar on Saturday. The stage inside the school had a BJP board, with photos of state and district BJP leaders. How can a political party use a government school? How can MPs and MLAs hold party events inside a school? How were students brought to a political programme? This is the BJP’s vision for the future of education—S.C.A.V. Government Co-Ed School, Rajendra Nagar.”
