The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has charged the BJP-led Delhi government with systematically dismantling every welfare scheme that once defined pro-people governance in the capital. AAP Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj pointed out that the BJP is using corruption allegations as a smokescreen to justify the closure of these schemes—despite not a single allegation being proven to date.
AAP Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj stated, “From shutting down Mohalla Clinics, ending free bus travel for women, to withdrawing free medicines from government hospitals and moving towards the privatisation of Delhi’s water supply—every step is calculated to erase AAP’s model of governance.”
He added that the latest target is the free coaching scheme for Dalit students, which the BJP is now trying to shut down under false pretexts
The AAP Delhi Unit Chief took to’X’and wrote: “The problem with the BJP government is that it wants to shut down every public welfare scheme, but before the elections, it had promised to keep Arvind Kejriwal’s tax scheme running. Therefore, every public welfare scheme is being labeled as corrupt and is being shut down.”
In a statement, AAP has noted that BJP’s so-called four-engine government has brought the functioning of the national capital to a complete standstill in the past six months. Despite enjoying all the power, the BJP has done nothing for the people of Delhi except weaponise state machinery to file case after case against AAP leaders.
The AAP has pointed out,“Six months have gone by, and not a single step has been taken to address the issues of ordinary citizens. The women of Delhi, to whom the BJP had promised ₹2,500 per month, are still waiting. Instead of fulfilling this guarantee, the BJP has delivered betrayal.”
The AAP highlighted that the daily realities of Delhiites paint a grim picture—sewer overflows, widespread power cuts, and private school fee hikes have become the new normal. “What happened to ‘Jahan Jhuggi Wahan Makaan’? The BJP has converted that into ‘Jahan Jhuggi Wahan Maidaan’. Houses are being razed, and people are being rendered homeless.”
Schools across Delhi continue to receive bomb threats, adding to the atmosphere of chaos and insecurity. “Every day, new threats are issued in schools. Is this what the BJP calls governance?”
The AAP charged the BJP with not just neglecting governance but actively dismantling a system that was running efficiently. “They’ve shut down the functioning model. The electricity, the health services, the education reforms—all halted. Instead of focusing on governance, BJP leaders spend their days abusing the AAP and Arvind Kejriwal. They have no agenda. No vision. No plan.”
The AAP challenged the BJP to move beyond rhetoric and obsession with vendetta. “Check everything. Check every brick in Delhi’s schools. Every needle in our Mohalla Clinics. Check the buses, the hospitals—check it all. But after you’re done with your witch hunt, start doing some real work.”
AAP demanded that the BJP respect the people’s mandate and immediately start governing with accountability. “People trusted you with power—honour that trust. Stop the drama. Stop the excuses. Get to work.”
