In a fiery declaration of intent, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday unveiled his “mega plan” to win Gujarat in 2027, launching the Gujarat Jodo membership campaign from Ahmedabad. The AAP Chief appealed to the youth of Gujarat to take charge of the state’s future by giving a missed call on 9512040404 and joining the movement for honesty, development, and change.
Calling the recent Visavadar by poll victory not just a win of one seat but a triumph of integrity, Arvind Kejriwal said, “This is no coincidence—this is the beginning of a wave of change that will echo across Gujarat.” He hit out at the Congress, accusing it of merely serving the BJP, and asserted that only AAP is working in the interest of the people of Gujarat and India. Present on the occasion were AAP Gujarat Prabhari Gopal Rai, Sah-Prabharis Gulab Singh Yadav and Durgesh Pathak, Gujarat state president Isudan Gadhvi, Dediapada MLA Chaitar Vasava, Jamjodhpur MLA Hemant Khava, Visavadar MLA Gopal Italia, and Gujarat Secretary (Organisation) Manoj Sorathiya.
AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal congratulated the people of Visavadar on the party’s emphatic bypoll victory, calling it a “historic and divine message” from the people of Gujarat. Addressing party workers, the AAP Chief declared that the people of Gujarat have begun writing a new chapter in the state’s political history, with the Visavadar win proving that “Gujarat now wants change.”
Arvind Kejriwal said, “This is no ordinary win. Visavadar has given us a message from God—Gujarat wants a new beginning. This victory is no coincidence. In 2022, we won Visavadar with a certain margin. In this bypoll, we have tripled that margin. It is a clear signal that people are rejecting the BJP’s 30-year misrule.”
Arvind Kejriwal highlighted that bypolls generally favour the ruling party in the state, and yet the BJP—with all its force, money, threats and intimidation—was thoroughly defeated. “Despite all their goondagardi, despite the BJP doing everything it could to defeat Gopal Italia, the people handed us a resounding win. This is no less than a divine intervention,” he said.
“Gujarat has suffered 30 years of Congress rule and 30 years of BJP rule—now the wheel has turned,” Arvind Kejriwal said. “Time is up for the BJP. The people want a patriotic, honest party in power. The BJP and Congress together have ruined Gujarat.”
He cited the devastation caused by recent floods in Surat, where water entered homes worth crores. “People invested their life savings in homes where now televisions and sofas are submerged in water,” he said. “In Rajkot, I landed for a campaign and had to drive to Junagadh. Roads are so bad, it took me 3.5 hours to travel a short distance. Speeds of 35 kmph on highways! The BJP couldn’t even build roads in 30 years.”
Taking a swipe at the BJP’s long rule, Arvind Kejriwal recalled: “Before BJP came to power in 1995, Gujarat had better roads. Today, the BJP has taken Gujarat from 100 kmph to 35 kmph.” He described regular power cuts in Junagadh, where during his campaign meetings in four villages, not a single one had electricity.
He held the BJP responsible for recent flooding in cities like Vadodara and Junagadh. “Corruption in construction and reckless permissions to builders have blocked water outlets, submerging people’s homes. The BJP has made life hell for the people,” he said. “Ironically, BJP leaders like CR Patil and Harsh Sanghvi have homes in Surat that never flood. Only the homes of common people flood. They work for themselves, not for the people.”
Taking on Gujarat BJP President CR Patil, Arvind Kejriwal slammed his statement during the campaign that “two more MLAs are in contact with me.” Arvind Kejriwal said, “CR Patil should be ashamed. One day everyone has to face God. What will you say in front of Him—that you broke other parties’ MLAs? You were given power for 30 years, why didn’t you build schools, hospitals, provide jobs, roads, electricity? Boasting about engineering defections is not pride—it’s shameful.”
“Every citizen in Gujarat is fed up with the BJP government,” Arvind Kejriwal said. “They can’t even conduct exams without leaks. Unemployment is rampant. There has been massive corruption in MGNREGA. The poor, who have nothing else, depend on MGNREGA. The BJP looted even their money. These people will rot in hell. They have eaten everything.”
Arvind Kejriwal pointed out that the BJP is thriving only because Congress has acted as its subordinate. “The BJP has grown arrogant, believing people have no alternative. They say—why work hard? Gujarat voters have no choice. For 30 years, both parties have looted Gujarat together,” he said.
Arvind Kejriwal exposed the collusion between the two national parties, saying, “70% of government contracts go to BJP’s companies and 30% to Congress’ companies. They’ve opened their own private businesses in governance. Congress is BJP’s B-team. Only AAP truly works for the people.”
He added, “When I asked someone about the BJP-Congress relationship, they said it’s not brother-sister or husband-wife—it’s like lovers meeting in secret. They are afraid of the public. Society doesn’t accept their relationship. Gujarat must beware—they are both dangerous.”
“The people of Gujarat want change,” he reiterated. “For 30 years, they had no alternative. Now they do. The BJP thought people had no other option. Visavadar was the semifinal—2027 will be the final. In 2027, Gujarat will have an AAP government. The people will rule, and corrupt politicians will be thrown out.”
He revealed that even a BJP minister told him, “All of Gujarat is fed up with us. We are impossible to defeat only because of our administrative grip.” Arvind Kejriwal reminded him that in 2014, people used to say the same about Delhi. “But when the people stand up, even the mightiest thrones shake. Visavadar has shown the people have stood up.”
The AAP Supremo called AAP a youth-centric party. “Most of our leaders are under 40. I urge Gujarat’s youth—take charge of the future. Other parties are filled with uncles, nephews, and dynasts. Every seat is reserved for their family. AAP gives tickets only to the common man.”
He invited all youth who want to change Gujarat to join AAP. “We are not doing partybaazi. We want to build a better Gujarat and India. Give AAP just 5 years—after giving BJP and Congress 30 each. Give us 2 years of your life. Missed call 9512040404 and join us.”
Arvind Kejriwal concluded with a call to action: “We must reach all 7 crore Gujaratis. Visit every household at least five times before 2027. Tour Gujarat five times over—only then will the revolution succeed.”
