Senior AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh has pledged ₹51,000 from his salary to help save an 8-month-old battling a deadly SMA Type 1 disease—and issued a powerful appeal to the Prime Minister, Health Minister, politicians, organisations, and citizens to step up. The child, son of a Haryana police constable, urgently needs a ₹14.5 crore injection to survive. Donations are being collected via ‘Impact Guru’.
Addressing a press conference, senior AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh highlighted the plight of an eight-month-old infant named Yuvansh from Haryana, who is battling a life-threatening condition. “The child, Yuvansh, is suffering from Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) Type 1, an extremely severe disease,” said Sanjay Singh.
“Doctors have said that the only cure is an injection that costs ₹14 crore. I have also raised this issue in Parliament. It is simply impossible for a common family to arrange such an amount on their own. Even if the family sells the mother’s jewellery, some land, or even their house, they still cannot gather ₹14 crore. In such cases, the nation must come together.”
Appealing to citizens across India, he urged, “People must step forward and contribute whatever they can—₹1, ₹1,000, or ₹1 lakh—from their own needs to save the life of this child. There are countless kind and generous people in our country who come forward to help in such cases.”
With folded hands, he pleaded, “If you want to save this eight-month-old baby’s life, please donate as much as you can. This is not just an injection—it is his life. A country of 144 crore people cannot be so helpless that we cannot save a single innocent child.”
Sanjay Singh also acknowledged the father’s service, stating, “Yuvansh’s father, Rajesh Kumar, is a constable in the Haryana Police. I want to thank the Haryana Police and the DGP, who has appealed to every police officer to donate one day’s salary towards the child’s treatment. This is a commendable step. I urge police personnel in other states to do the same—this is a matter involving their fellow brother.”
He extended his appeal to religious and social organizations, political leaders, the Prime Minister, and the Union Health Minister, urging them all to support this life-saving cause. “I also appeal to the media to prominently highlight this issue so that the public becomes aware and more people come forward to help,” he added.
Stressing the urgency, Sanjay Singh said, “This child has very little time left. Doctors have made it clear—if he doesn’t receive the injection soon, he will not live beyond two-and-a-half years. That is why I am once again requesting everyone, with folded hands, to support this cause.”
He explained that donations are being collected through the platform ‘Impact Guru’ and that a QR code is available for people to contribute easily, along with full banking details. “If the injection is not administered in time, we could lose him. On June 30, when I receive my salary, I will donate ₹51,000 as a small contribution for the child. I urge fellow citizens to do whatever they can to save his life,” he said.
Yuvansh’s father, Rajesh Kumar, also made a heartfelt appeal: “I just want to request everyone in the country to support us as much as possible so that, with your help, my child can live and grow up with new hope.” His mother echoed the plea, asking the public to come forward generously to save her baby’s life.
