In just 100 days, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has brought Delhi to the brink of collapse. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has sounded the alarm over a complete breakdown in governance. On Sunday, senior AAP leader and Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj declared that the Capital has been turned into a “living hell” under BJP rule. Pointing out that Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has abandoned the city during an unprecedented governance crisis, Saurabh Bharadwaj said Delhi’s water and electricity systems have collapsed under BJP’s misrule, with power outages lasting up to 14 hours.
“Even an employee from the Lieutenant Governor (LG) office tweeted that there was no electricity for two hours. If this is the condition of Raj Niwas, imagine the suffering of ordinary Delhiites,” he remarked, warning of a complete administrative breakdown as BJP ministers remain missing in action.
In a press conference, senior AAP leader and Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj stated, “Since the BJP has taken over governance in Delhi, the city’s water and electricity systems have collapsed. From time to time, we receive information that ministers who are supposed to be managing departments are not even present in Delhi. A few days ago, Delhi witnessed heavy rainfall, and waterlogging was reported in multiple areas.
The AAP Delhi State President pointed out that the Aam Aadmi Party asked a simple question: where is PWD Minister Parvesh Verma? Is he in Delhi? We received no response from either the BJP or the Delhi Government. According to our information, Parvesh Verma was absent from Delhi for several days. But this was deliberately hidden by the BJP and the Delhi Government.”
Saurabh Bharadwaj further highlighted the deteriorating condition of basic civic services: “A few days ago, a resident of Alaknanda Apartments in Greater Kailash came to meet me. He said he has been living in the city for 25 years, but never has the water situation been as bad as it is this year. Just the day before yesterday, an employee working at the LG Office tweeted that there had been a two-hour power outage at his residence. Across Delhi, power cuts are lasting anywhere between 5 to 14 hours. In some places, transformers are malfunctioning; in others, various technical problems persist.”
Pointing to the indifference of the Chief Minister, Saurabh Bharadwaj said, “Despite such a severe crisis, Delhi CM Rekha Gupta is busy campaigning in other states, abandoning her responsibilities in the capital. The Aam Aadmi Party demands that Chief Minister Rekha Gupta perform the duties she was elected for. The people of Delhi voted for her to serve them, not to tour other states. Let the senior BJP leaders handle national campaigns; she must stay in Delhi and fulfill her responsibilities to its citizens.”
