I may no longer be Education Minister, but as Manish Sisodia, I will continue this tradition of meeting Delhi’s toppers every year: Manish Sisodia

  • May 20, 2025

Continuing the proud tradition of celebrating the achievement of govt school students of Delhi in Board exams, Manish Sisodia—the leader of Delhi’s education revolution—met with Class 10 and 12 toppers from Delhi government schools on Tuesday and congratulated them for their outstanding performance.

The topper students who met Manish Sisodia were brought together by AAP MLAs from their respective constituencies.

These were the brightest young achievers who topped the CBSE Board exams from Delhi government schools.

Addressing the toppers, Manish Sisodia said, “All of you have not only made yourselves proud but have also brought glory to your schools, your parents, and the entire city of Delhi with your exceptional performance.”

Reflecting on the transformation in Delhi’s public education system, he said, “In 2015, government schools in Delhi were in a dilapidated state. There were no desks, no blackboards, no fans in the classrooms. The walls and windows were broken, and toilets were in miserable condition—this was the image of government schools. But we changed that. We transformed these schools, invested in quality education, worked hard—and today, the result of that effort is evident in your success and progress.”

The former Education Minister emphasized that the practice of meeting toppers after board results has been a cherished tradition for the past 10 years. “I may not be the Education Minister anymore, but I will continue this tradition not in any official capacity, but as Manish Sisodia. And this will continue in the future as well,” he affirmed.

What Did the Toppers Say?

An emotional moment unfolded when a Class 10 topper from New Kondli government school broke down in front of Manish Sisodia and said, “You’ve made government schools truly excellent.” She shared, “I want to prepare for the UPSC and I’ve already started working hard towards it. Our family’s financial situation isn’t great—my father is a tailor—but my parents never held back in supporting my education. My teachers also stood by me at every step.”

Sia, a Class 12 topper, shared her aspirations: “After completing my higher studies, I want to enter the banking sector and raise awareness among people on how to better manage and invest their funds.”

Another Class 10 topper from Veer Savarkar Sarvodaya School reflected on the deeper value of education: “I scored well in the board exams, but I believe that more important than marks is what and how much you’ve truly learned in life.”

Ansh Kumar Rai, a Class 12 topper, said, “My father is a driver and my mother is a housewife, but they’ve always supported me in my studies. I want to become a Chartered Accountant and support my family.”

Another student shared her difficult circumstances: “My father is a daily wage labourer. I’ve faced financial hurdles throughout my education, but I never stopped working hard. I will now prepare for UPSC and one day become an officer to help economically weaker children like myself.”

What Did the Parents Say?

A parent shared, “I suffered significant losses in business, which led me to admit my daughter in a government school. But when I visited the school for the first time, it didn’t seem any less than a top private school. People often ignore children studying in government schools, but Arvind Kejriwal ji and Manish Sisodia ji have completely transformed them. That’s why our children are now achieving so much. Maybe Delhi made a mistake this time, but we will correct it.”

Another parent said, “It feels amazing to be invited by Manish Sisodia ji—the man who transformed the entire education system. It’s an honour to meet him today.”

Your Confidence is the Reward of This Education Revolution: Manish Sisodia

At the end of the event, Manish Sisodia remarked, “Seeing your hard work and confidence fills me with pride. Your success is the true reward of the hard work we invested in this education revolution. The entire city of Delhi is celebrating your achievements today.”
He extended his blessings to the students and said, “You young minds are the future of this country. Keep working hard like this and make India proud.”

Sharing a few snippets from the meet-up, senior AAP leader and former Delhi Education Minister Manish Sisodia took to X and wrote: “Had a chat today with some of the toppers from Delhi’s government schools. These brilliant students of Class 10 and 12, who study in Delhi’s government schools—have big dreams in their eyes. And I am proud that the education revolution which began in 2015 under the leadership of Arvind Kejriwal is now bearing fruit—of dreams, of hope, of confidence.”

The former Delhi Education Minister further added, “Looking into the eyes of these children brings peace—because yes, if a government focuses honestly on education, then even a poor child can reach any height in the world. Since 2015, every year, Kejriwal ji and I used to meet the toppers of Delhi’s government schools—congratulate them, bless them. It was not just a tradition, but a message—that the biggest responsibility of a government is education.”

“We had hoped that the new BJP government would at least keep this tradition alive… But sadly… it’s the BJP—and what do they have to do with education,” the post concluded.
