The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has called for the immediate dismissal and arrest of BJP Minister Vijay Shah for referring to Indian Army officer Sofiya Qureshi as the sister of Pakistani terrorists. Senior AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh called out the minister for insulting the Army and exposing the BJP’s anti-national agenda.
The senior AAP leader stated that the BJP’s true nature is to divide, not unite, the country. He also urged the Prime Minister to stop remaining silent and apologize to the nation for the insult to the Army.
Addressing a press conference, AAP’s Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh strongly condemned the BJP for disrespecting the Indian Army. “BJP Minister in the Madhya Pradesh government, Vijay Shah, has insulted the Indian Army and exposed the true mindset of the BJP. This is PM Narendra Modi’s party—the BJP can only divide the country, it can never unite it,” he said.
Sanjay Singh continued, “BJP Minister Vijay Shah referred to a brave daughter of India, Army officer Sofiya Qureshi, as the sister of Pakistani terrorists. There can be no greater insult to the Indian Army. It is shocking that PM Narendra Modi remains silent despite such a grave insult to the Indian Army. He is neither speaking out against the minister’s statement nor taking any action.”
Highlighting Vijay Shah’s history of offensive remarks, he said, “The minister who insulted the Indian Army already has a tainted track record. He had earlier made derogatory comments about the wife of a former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh. Despite this, the BJP has made him a minister.”
The AAP MP emphasised that a man who insults women holds a cabinet position, and for this, PM Narendra Modi should apologise to the entire country. “Vijay Shah should be immediately sacked from the cabinet and arrested. This country will not tolerate insults to our Army, its officers, or its brave daughters. The Prime Minister must come forward and apologise to the nation—otherwise, the country will never forgive him.”
On BJP’s pattern of targeting the military and their families, Sanjay Singh said, “During the course of this war, the BJP has repeatedly disrespected the Indian Army. Their behaviour is not accidental—it’s part of a deliberate strategy. BJP-linked trolls have made vile, disgraceful and shameful comments about Himanshi Narwal, the widow of an Army officer who lost his life in the tragic incident. These trolls are abusing and humiliating her. Yet, neither the Prime Minister nor the BJP has uttered a word against this disgraceful conduct.”
He further exposed how BJP supporters targeted top officials. “The BJP’s troll gang didn’t stop there. They went on to blame Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri for the ceasefire, hurling abuses at him. The decision to implement the ceasefire was taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself—Vikram Misri had no role in it. He committed no offence. Still, BJP’s people have gone after Vikram Misri’s entire family, including his daughter.”
Sanjay Singh criticised the BJP’s overarching culture of abuse and intimidation. “The BJP has unleashed a reign of goondaism across the country. Abusing a brave daughter of the Indian Army, the Foreign Secretary and his daughter, a martyr’s widow, and humiliating the Indian Army—this is the true character and mindset of BJP.”
He emphasised, “The Prime Minister must apologise to the country for the insult made by his minister to the Army’s brave daughter. The nation will not tolerate this insult. On this issue, the Prime Minister cannot hide, and he cannot remain silent.”
