The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) launched a scathing attack on Delhi’s so called ‘four-engine’ BJP government as the capital was brought to its knees by the season’s first rain. AAP’s Chief Spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar said the tall promises made by CM Rekha Gupta and PWD Minister Parvesh Verma about preventing waterlogging were exposed within hours.
Priyanka Kakkar questioned whether the much-publicised drain-cleaning drives were merely a performance for Delhiites. She emphasised that from Gurugram to Mumbai, traffic jams and waterlogging have become routine under BJP rule—and now, with the BJP in power in Delhi, the same disasters have arrived here too. She stated that BJP has become a symbol of guaranteed destruction, and anyone looking to ruin their state knows exactly where to cast their vote.
During a press conference, AAP Chief Spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar stated, “Delhi currently has a four-engine government, and all four engines are under water. Last night, the city witnessed rainfall, but this wasn’t an unexpected event. The Meteorological Department had already warned that such rain could be expected in Delhi. And perhaps that’s why the very first task the BJP government claimed it would do in Delhi—just claimed, not executed—was exposed yesterday.”
She continued, The BJP had asserted that all drains in Delhi and every area requiring desilting had already been identified. But this identification had been done during the AAP government already. The BJP government claimed that CM Rekha Gupta and PWD Minister Parvesh Singh Verma had personally conducted inspections at various locations. They said they even physically used sticks to clean the drains and then shared all these photos on their social media platforms, ensuring they appeared in every newspaper in Delhi.”
Priyanka Kalkar added that we saw this PR exercise over the last two months. “They said they would first fix this problem in Delhi. But yesterday, just four hours of rain exposed all their lies. All these tall claims were made in conclaves, curated just for TV headlines, and meant to manage media perception. In fact, take a look at any state where the BJP is in power.”
She elaborated, “Look at neighbouring Haryana, Gurugram in particular—its traffic and rain-related mess have now gained international notoriety. Or take Mumbai, listen to the chaos that rains and traffic bring there. Wherever the BJP is in power—now, unfortunately, including Delhi—you’ll find this picture repeating itself. It’s become a norm.”
“The disease that once plagued Gurugram, that once paralysed Mumbai, has now, unfortunately, infected Delhi too. And the only person who had a cure for this was Arvind Kejriwal,” asserted the AAP Chief Spokesperson.
Priyanka Kakkar stated that there is one guarantee the BJP always fulfils: the guarantee of destruction. Be it school fees being hiked, or auto drivers’ licence fees being increased—they’ve done it. Today, we saw how waterlogging took over all of Delhi and how traffic came to a complete standstill across the city. Tragically, four people lost their lives.
“Shockingly, even a structure at Terminal 3 collapsed during the very first spell of rain. Thankfully, there was no mishap this time, but the risk was enormous. Wherever BJP is in power, it guarantees destruction. And wherever people wish to destroy their state—be it drowning it in traffic, in water, or in broken systems; if they want to ruin their schools or endure eight-hour-long power cuts—they must remember this: Only then should you vote for BJP. The BJP is nothing but a guarantee of destruction,” asserted the AAP Chief Spokesperson
