The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has pointed out that the BJP and Congress are running a covert alliance, branding them corrupt and in cahoots, after the Congress was handed a clean chit in the Commonwealth Games scam. Pointing to the lack of action against the Gandhi family in the National Herald case and the continued impunity of Congress’ “son-in-law” in multiple land scams, AAP asserted that the Modi government’s Enforcement Directorate (ED) — described as a “parrot” — is working to shield its newfound ally. “This clean chit is not justice, it’s a political reward,” the party charged, calling the closure report proof of a grand political drama playing out behind the scenes in Delhi.
During a media interaction, AAP’s Chief Spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar said that the Congress had actively helped the BJP during the elections, and is now reaping the rewards of that “unholy alliance.” Just look at what’s unfolding, the Congress, which posed as an opponent of the BJP in public, worked behind the scenes to ensure the BJP’s success in Delhi. Now they’re being rewarded for their loyalty.
The Chief AAP Spokesperson questioned the moral fabric of the BJP, pointing out that nearly 90 percent of the leaders in the BJP today are those who had been accused of serious corruption during the Congress regime. “Let’s not forget — it was Amit Shah himself who had a whole booklet printed on Himanta Biswa Sarma’s corruption and distributed it door-to-door. But the moment he joined the BJP, he was magically absolved and made the Chief Minister of Assam.”
Priyanka Kakkar drew a direct parallel to Delhi, stating that the Congress party’s behind-the-scenes support to the BJP has now earned them political favours. “This is not just political opportunism, this is a betrayal of the people,” she said.
Priyanka Kakkar also revealed that former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal had sought to file an FIR against Congress leaders during their rule. “When Arvind Kejriwal moved to act against Congress corruption, the BJP-led Central Government retaliated by snatching away the ACB (Anti-Corruption Branch) from the Delhi Government — and that too within just three months of AAP coming to power.”
“This clearly shows that BJP and Congress are two sides of the same coin,” she said. “Today, the same Congress leaders who once faced grave corruption allegations have either joined the BJP or are helping it from the sidelines. And as soon as they switch sides, their corruption is whitewashed.”
