‘Terrorism is not a partisan issue, it is an Attack on India,’ asserted the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) slamming the BJP-Congress blame game. The AAP on Monday issued a scathing rebuke to attempts at politicising the brutal terror attack on tourists in Pahalgam, declaring that framing it as a Congress versus BJP issue was a betrayal of the nation.
“This was an attack on India, not on a political party,” said AAP’s Chief Spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar, urging all parties to rise above petty politics and unite against terrorism. She called efforts to communalise or politicise the tragedy “an insult to the innocent lives lost” and demanded a united front to confront Pakistan-backed terror.
In a media interaction, AAP Chief Spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar said, “I don’t understand how such a major terrorist attack could occur against our unarmed, innocent civilians. People have lost the sole breadwinners of their families in this tragedy. Yet, instead of addressing the plight of the victims, the entire issue is being turned into a Congress versus BJP debate. I don’t believe the Congress is so naive that it would make such tweets without careful thought at a time like this.”
Emphasising the need for political maturity and unity, she added: “I believe everyone needs to rise above party politics and give Pakistan a strong and decisive response. The Aam Aadmi Party will always stand in support of such efforts, because this is a moment to look beyond politics. We must respond to Pakistan.”
Questioning the current political atmosphere and infighting, Priyanka Kakkar expressed deep concern: “Why are such internal fights happening? Why is such an atmosphere being created? It is beyond my understanding. At this moment, neither Congress, nor BJP, nor Aam Aadmi Party is important. The country is important. Our sole focus should be on giving a befitting reply to Pakistan.”
The Chief AAP Spokesperson urged the Central Government to take concrete steps, “The Centre must convene a special session, take suggestions from all parties, and share with everyone where the lapse in internal security occurred and what the plan is going forward. Only then can we give Pakistan a strong and effective response. This is not a fight between BJP and Congress, and I don’t think it should be painted as such.”
Priyanka Kakkar reiterated that the Aam Aadmi Party stands firmly with the nation and the people in this moment of grief, and urged all political forces to set aside differences and focus on the security and sovereignty of India.
