The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for its obsession with renaming roads and monuments linked to Mughal rulers while ignoring pressing economic crises. Senior AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh highlighted the contradiction in BJP’s stance, pointing out that while its ministers erase Mughal-era names, Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself showcases the Taj Mahal to global leaders.
Sanjay Singh pointed out that the BJP is using historical revisionism as a smokescreen to divert public attention from surging inflation, unemployment, and a widening wealth gap, stressing that in just five months, ordinary citizens have lost ₹94 lakh crore in the stock market.
In media interaction, senior AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh also remarked that it was a positive move when Union Minister Krishna Pal Gurjar changed the nameplate of his residence on Tughlaq Lane to Vivekananda Marg. He added that this could be seen as an attempt by Krishna Pal Gurjar to display his patriotism and speak out against the cruel Mughal rulers.
However, Sanjay Singh criticized PM Modi for showing the Taj Mahal to foreign dignitaries, including Donald Trump, Barack Obama, and Justin Trudeau, pointing out that the Taj Mahal was built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. “Krishna Pal Gurjar should tell us when the Taj Mahal should be demolished, and we will join him with a spade,” he concluded.
Sanjay Singh said that the Red Fort was also built by the Mughal ruler Shah Jahan. Every Prime Minister of India delivers a speech at the Red Fort on August 15th. “Today, India is free, and it is a government of the people of Hindustan. Everything within the boundaries of this country belongs to the people of Hindustan.”
He further mentioned that Lady Hardinge Hospital in Delhi was named after the wife of British Viceroy Lord Hardinge. “The British ruled over India for 200 years, and during their rule, they hanged many freedom fighters, including Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev, Rajguru, Asfaq Ullah, Roshan Singh, Rajendra Lahiri, Khudiram Bose, and Prafulla Chaki. Millions of Indian revolutionaries were rotting in jails.”
He continued, “But none of the BJP leaders ever speak about the cruelty of the British, especially the brutal colonialists who were in power during the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. This is because the ancestors of the BJP leaders were the British’s collaborators.”
Sanjay Singh also criticized the RSS, saying, “The RSS people collaborated with the British and even labeled the tricolor flag as ‘inauspicious’. I want an open discussion about the rulers of the Mughal period in India. The RSS people betrayed the freedom movement, opposed the tricolor, and there should be an open discussion on that as well.”
He further added that Shyama Prasad Mukherjee had written a letter to the British governor, advocating the suppression of the Quit India Movement. “This too should be discussed,” he insisted. Sanjay Singh slammed the BJP for talking about patriotism, noting that the very organization they belong to was founded with the purpose of betraying the nation. “Today, the traitors’ army will talk about patriotism,” he concluded.
Sanjay Singh said that the BJP can erase any traces of Mughal rulers it wants, but it should stop the drama of showing the Taj Mahal. He added, “The BJP should end this drama. The BJP asked a legislator to tell a street vendor to shut down his meat shop. If they have the guts, they should ask PM Modi to shut down KFC and McDonald’s in Delhi.”
“They should ensure that no meat, chicken, or fish is sold anywhere in the embassies on Tuesdays. They don’t have the courage to shut down chicken, meat, or fish at KFC and in the embassies. What direction do these people want to take the country in?,” he said.
Sanjay Singh further stated that in the last five months, the common people of this country have lost 94 lakh crore rupees in the stock market. He said, “PM Modi has waived off 16 lakh crore rupees for his friends. Economic inequality in the country has reached levels not seen in the last 100 years.”
He continued, “The gap between the rich and the poor has widened. The 100 crore people of this country no longer have the purchasing power to buy anything beyond their basic needs. Inflation has reached sky-high levels, and the common man is crushed under the burden of taxes. The BJP does not want to discuss any of this.”
Sanjay Singh added that the BJP is trying to divert attention from real issues, such as the struggles of the common people, poverty, and unemployment, by discussing unnecessary topics. He concluded by stating, “That is why they keep creating new dramas every day. I am ready to speak about RSS’s treachery on every platform.”
“The RSS has worked against the freedom fighters of the independence movement in this country. The RSS collaborated with the British to divide the country and played the role of a broker. This is a matter that needs to be discussed,” he emphasised.
