Senior AAP leader and Delhi State Convenor Gopal Rai held a crucial meeting at the party headquarters on Saturday with state office bearers of all frontal organisations. The AAP Delhi State Convenor announced that the party has decided to restructure and strengthen these organisations. To assess their role in the Lok Sabha, district, assembly, and ward-level campaigns, an audit of all office bearers will be conducted and completed within a week. During the meeting, leaders also discussed key factors behind AAP’s victories and losses in various constituencies.
The meeting was attended by Purvanchal Wing President Akhilesh Pati Tripathi, Youth Wing President Pankaj Gupta, Legal Cell President Sanjeev Nasiar, Sanatan Wing State In-charge Ghanendra Bhardwaj, President Vijay Sharma, Auto Wing President Haider Ali, and OBC Wing President Ravinder Balyan, along with other state office bearers. State Organisation Ministers Yashpal Singh, Kamal Chaudhary, Ajay Rajput, and Suyogya Rajbela were also present. State Vice President Rituraj Jha also attended the meeting.
Providing information regarding the meeting, senior AAP leader and Delhi State Convenor Gopal Rai said, “Today, we held a meeting with the office bearers of all frontal organizations of the AAP following the election results. Representatives from our key frontal organizations, including the Purvanchal Wing, Auto Wing, Women’s Wing, Youth Organization, Rural Wing, Lawyers’ Organization, RWAs, and Minority Wing, were present. During this meeting, we analyzed the circumstances during the elections, the reasons behind our victories and defeats in different constituencies, and the various factors that influenced the results.”
The AAP Delhi State Convenor further added that all state-level office bearers have been instructed to conduct an audit of the role played by different functionaries in the election within the next week. This includes Lok Sabha-level officials, district-level officials, assembly-level officials, ward-level officials, and members of frontal organizations.
“The party will evaluate their contributions, just as we have initiated the restructuring process of the main wing. Similarly, a restructuring of all our wings will be undertaken to strengthen our presence in areas where we had strong support and to address communication gaps wherever they existed,” he added.
Gopal Rai said, “Each wing will be responsible for ensuring that the newly elected government fulfills the promises made in its manifesto. Just as our legislative party will raise these issues in the assembly, our wings will highlight these concerns within their respective communities. Whether in the assembly or among the people, the AAP will play the role of a strong and constructive opposition.”
Regarding the appointment of the Leader of the Opposition, Gopal Rai said, “The government has just taken the oath, and MLAs will be sworn in on the 24th, February. After this, we will finalize the Leader of the Opposition. We have requested a meeting with the Chief Minister regarding the scheme to provide ₹2,500 per month to women. We hope the Chief Minister will grant us time and engage in dialogue with the opposition. If we meet the CM, we will discuss this issue with her. If we do not get an appointment, the party will decide on its next course of action.”
On the issue of the 14 CAG reports that have, the AAP Delhi State Convenor said, “The BJP remained in opposition for so long that they have yet to mentally transition into the role of the ruling party. The BJP’s top leadership had guaranteed that upon coming to power, they would pass a proposal in their very first cabinet meeting to provide ₹2,500 per month to women and ensure the funds reached their accounts by March 8. Now, it is the BJP government’s responsibility to fulfill its promise. However, despite holding its first cabinet meeting, the BJP government did not pass the proposal to provide ₹2,500 to women.”
Gopal Rai pointed out that instead of fulfilling its responsibility, the BJP is now saying that it will table the CAG report and expose the opposition. But what exactly is the BJP’s ideology, character, and intent? So far, all it has done is focus on “exposing” others. The people of Delhi have now entrusted the BJP with the responsibility of governance. CAG reports have been tabled before, and they will continue to be tabled. This is not the first time a CAG report has been released. The report will be discussed inside the assembly, as per procedure. However, the government’s real duty is to move forward with the promises it has made.
Gopal Rai stated that the BJP had promised to pass the proposal for ₹2,500 per month for women in its first cabinet meeting, and it must now reflect on its commitment. A new government has been formed, and it must now transition into governance mode. The people of Delhi have entrusted the AAP with the role of the opposition, and we will fulfill that responsibility diligently. But the BJP must get to work on the ground and fulfill the promises it made to the people. The failure to implement the ₹2,500 scheme in the first cabinet meeting has raised concerns among Delhiites about why the BJP is backing away from its own commitment.
