AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal strongly condemned the fatal attack on Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan, calling it a ‘stark reminder of the worsening law and order situation under the BJP-led governments’ at both the state and central levels. Using the incident as a lens to highlight deeper systemic issues, Arvind Kejriwal criticized the BJP’s inability to provide security for citizens, including high-profile individuals, and called their governance a failure in ensuring basic public safety. He went on to question the BJP’s capability to govern effectively, citing rising crime rates, unchecked gangster activities, and the alarming insecurity faced by citizens in various parts of the country.Addressing a press conference, Arvind Kejriwal talked about how last night, some unidentified individuals broke into the house of the famous actor Saif Ali Khan and attacked him six times with knives. It has been reported that he is currently undergoing treatment at the hospital. He said: “We hope and pray to God for his speedy recovery. However, it is extremely concerning that such a big actor, living in what we assume to be a very secure place, can have people breaking into his house through a window and attacking him. This raises serious questions about the state and central governments. It means that both governments have failed to provide security to the people.”He pointed out that this is not the first such incident in Bombay, noting a shootout involving Salman Khan and NCP leader Baba Siddiqui’s murder in broad daylight. “Baba Siddiqui was a partner of BJP in the NDA (National Democratic Alliance). If such high-profile celebrities are not safe in the country and if even the double-engine BJP government cannot provide them with security, then what about the common man?,” he added. Arvind Kejriwal further took note of how reports are coming in from all directions that gangsters sitting in Gujarat jails are openly extorting people and issuing shootout orders. “Across the country, gangsters are running their operations fearlessly. It seems like there is complete protection for these criminals at the highest levels. They are doing whatever they want without any fear of being caught. It appears that they are operating with full protection and freedom.” He also lambasted the BJP for not only failing to provide safety to people but also failing to secure the borders. “Every day, they shout that Rohingyas are crossing the borders. If you cannot secure the borders, then resign from the central government. The first responsibility of any government is to secure the country’s borders. If a government openly admits that it cannot secure the borders, then it should resign,” he said. The AAP Convenor continued, “They are failing to secure the country’s borders, and they are also failing to provide safety in the nation’s capital. Today, open gang wars are happening in Delhi. Streets are witnessing 20-25 rounds of firing. Every other day, traders are receiving extortion calls demanding crores of rupees, threatening to kill them if they don’t pay. Traders are not safe. Women are not safe. Children are going missing. This government is incapable of doing anything. This BJP government cannot provide good governance or safety to the country.”In conclusion, Arvind Kejriwal strongly condemned the fatal attack on Saif Ali Khan in the harshest terms. “We urge the central government to stop playing dirty politics all the time. Instead, do the work you have been elected to do by the people of this country. Your primary duty is to ensure safety, followed by delivering justice. You are failing in your responsibility to ensure safety. Day by day, you have worsened the situation across the country. Start working and stop playing dirty politics. If any celebrity faces such attacks, it raises serious questions about the safety of everyone.”Addressing a media query, he stated, “Even journalists are saying that compared to 2013, the crime rate in Delhi has increased fourfold. What are they doing? Are they waiting for people to put pressure on them? If Pakistan attacks tomorrow, will they wait for someone to create pressure? The central government seems to be waiting and watching. They are still asleep, engaging in dirty politics, distributing money and blankets to voters instead of ensuring safety. We have been creating pressure for months now. From the moment I was released from jail, I have been pushing them, but they remain unresponsive.”Replying to another query regarding initial inquiries in the Saif Ali Khan case, he said, “Whatever the reasons behind this attack, they are not justified. No one has the right to attack anyone. Imagine if, God forbid, you or someone else were attacked tomorrow—would any reason justify it? No. We need a safe society. Life is precious; if we don’t have safety, what else matters? Life is everything. If we can’t save lives, then what is the point of anything?”Meanwhile, senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia took to X to express his anger: “The BJP government is unable to protect either the country’s borders or the capital, Delhi. The attack on Saif Ali Khan is proof of BJP’s failure in law and order! Gang wars are taking place openly on the streets of Delhi, 25 rounds of firing are taking place. Traders are getting ransom calls, even women and children are not safe. Every day 17 children are disappearing from Delhi. Be it Delhi or Maharashtra, the BJP, which has ruined the law and order, is this their double engine government?”
