The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) today strongly refuted reports claiming that Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor (LG) has granted prosecution sanction to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) against AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal. Senior party leaders, including Manish Sisodia, Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh, Chief Minister Atishi and Cabinet Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj have denounced the news as baseless and politically motivated. AAP leaders emphasized that these false claims are being spread to distract the public from pressing issues, including the BJP’s disrespect towards Babasaheb Ambedkar.Senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia took to social media platform X, stating, “If LG Vinai Kumar Saxena has granted sanction to prosecute Arvind Kejriwal, then why isn’t ED showing a copy of that sanction? It’s clear that this news is false and misleading. Stop using rhetoric to divert attention from the issue of disrespecting Babasaheb and show where the sanction to prosecute was given to ED.”Meanwhile, during a media interaction, senior AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP, Sanjay Singh stated, “Since this morning, a baseless and false news story has been circulating. Delhi LG VK Saxena has not granted any approval for prosecution. If such approval has indeed been given, where is the letter? Show the letter if it exists.”He further reasoned that if ED has received a letter of approval from the LG, why is it being hidden? It should be made public. What are you trying to prove by keeping it concealed? This is clearly a fabricated and unfounded story, and any such letter, if it exists, must be made public.Chief Minister Atishi took to X (formerly Twitter) to address the issue. She wrote, “If LG has granted prosecution sanction against Arvind Kejriwal, then why does ED have a problem in making the copy public. This news is being spread solely to mislead people and divert attention from real issues. BJP should stop these conspiracies”Whereas, Cabinet Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj stated that the BJP-led central government has some of the biggest legal experts, and even the LG considers himself a highly knowledgeable person. “Yet, they lack the basic understanding that prosecution sanction is required to initiate a case against a minister or a chief minister.”“Today, they claim to have granted prosecution sanction, which means that for the past two years, the BJP’s circus on television was all a lie. If there was no approval to prosecute, what was all this drama about,” he questioned. He further said that even today, no prosecution sanction has been granted as per our information. “This entire episode is nothing but a series of lies and conspiracies driven purely by political motives, and it is deeply shameful,” asserted the Delhi Minister.Meanwhile, Senior AAP Leader Jasmine Shah tweeted, “BJP is fighting Delhi elections by planting one fake news everyday. No, the LG of Delhi has not given any prosecution sanction to ED against former CM Arvind Kejriwal. This is fake news. If someone insists otherwise, please demand to show a copy of the sanction.”
