In the wake of a shocking escalation of threats to public safety, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has once again sounded alarm over the deteriorating law and order situation in Delhi, following bomb threats to 40 schools across the city on Monday. AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal pointed out to Union Home Minister Amit Shah and the BJP’s failure to protect the city’s residents, including children.
The AAP Chief questioned Shah’s response to the rising security concerns, demanding to know what steps have been taken to ensure the safety of Delhi’s people. With the capital in a state of panic, the BJP’s dismissive stance on the issue is only fueling further concerns.
AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal voiced grave concerns about the deteriorating safety in Delhi, citing a series of chilling incidents. He stated, “It has come to light that nearly 40 schools in Delhi have received bomb threats. The law and order situation in Delhi is worsening day by day. Just yesterday or the day before, in Vishwas Nagar, a trader dealing in utensils was shot multiple times in broad daylight.”
“In Govindpuri, a person was stabbed to death. In the same area, a police constable was also stabbed to death. A few days prior, in Panchsheel Enclave, an elderly person was stabbed to death at night. Before that, in Naraina Gaon, a man was murdered, and six months earlier, his brother was killed. Such incidents are happening daily,” he added.
The AAP Supremo asserted, “Women are not safe anywhere, and now even children are not secure. Bomb threats are being received at airports, schools, colleges and various locations. The people of Delhi have never seen such incidents before.”
Detailing specific incidents, the AAP Chief read from a list:
“I have a list that shows the scale of the threats. On May 1, over 200 schools in Delhi-NCR received bomb threat emails, leading to the evacuation of schools and children being sent home. Imagine the mental state of children and their parents after such threats—it leaves everyone in fear.
On May 12, eight hospitals in Delhi and the Delhi airport were threatened with bomb attacks. On May 24, multiple University of Delhi’s colleges, including Hansraj College, Gargi College, Ramjas College, Indraprastha College for Women, and several others, received bomb threats. On August 20, three malls and a hospital in South Delhi were threatened with bombings. On August 21, hundred hospitals and a shopping mall were threatened with bombings.
On October 20, an explosion occurred in a CRPF school in Rohini. On November 28, a blast took place in a PVR cinema in Prashant Vihar. On October 27, eight flights associated with Delhi airport were threatened with bomb attacks. On November 29, Venkateshwar Global School in Rohini received a bomb threat. And today, December 9, bomb threats were issued to 40 schools, including DPS RK Puram and GD Goenka.”
Appealing to the Union Home Minister, Arvind Kejriwal said: “I fold my hands and request Amit Shah to act immediately. The people of Delhi want to know what measures are being taken to ensure their safety. The citizens of Delhi are not asking for anything else; we do not want politics—we only need safety. Providing security is your responsibility, and you must fulfill it. Today, I demand that Amit Shah come to Delhi, sit with its citizens, and give them the assurance that he will ensure their safety.”
Responding to a media question, the AAP Chief asked, “Despite so many threats, not a single culprit has been caught. Those issuing threats to blow up 200 schools, airports, flights, hospitals, colleges, and malls—why hasn’t even one person been arrested in Delhi? Why is Amit Shah not taking action? What is Amit Shah doing? Why is he silent?”
Addressing another query, Arvind Kejriwal said, “It is unfortunate that despite traders receiving extortion threats, elderly people are being killed, and children’s schools are being threatened with bombings. Yet senior BJP leaders are saying that law and order is not an issue. If it is not an issue for them, how will they provide security? This needs to be discussed in Parliament and on the streets. The government must tell the people what they are doing to resolve these issues.”
Highlighting the defunct law and order situation in Delhi, AAP’s National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal took to social media platform X stating, “The people of Delhi have never seen such a poor state of law and order in Delhi before. Amit Shah Ji should come and answer the people of Delhi.”
Meanwhile, Senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia stated that today, bomb threats have been issued to 40 schools in Delhi. “Reports in the media suggest that a ransom of $30,000 crore has also been demanded. Hearing such news is truly terrifying. It makes us question whether even our children are safe anymore,” he asserted.
He added, “We send our children to school to study, but now we are forced to live under the shadow of fear. Parents are left wondering whether their child’s school might be the target of a bomb threat. Just imagining this is deeply unsettling.”
Manish Sisodia expressed deep concern, stating that the anguish of parents whose children are at school right now, hearing such distressing news, is unimaginable. Across Delhi, there is an overwhelming atmosphere of fear, for which he held the BJP accountable. The total collapse of law and order is a glaring failure of Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Expressing frustration, the senior AAP leader emphasised that as the Home Minister of the country, Amit Shah must take responsibility for the deteriorating state of the capital city. “Extortion from businesspersons has become rampant. Criminals are openly brandishing pistols and firing in broad daylight. Such incidents are happening daily. And now, even our children are no longer safe.” These alarming incidents, he noted, are occurring daily, leaving even children vulnerable and unsafe.
Manish Sisodia voiced alarm over the growing insecurity in daily life, stating that people can’t even step out for a morning walk without fearing for their safety. Families live in constant anxiety, wondering if their loved ones will return home safely. He questioned the inaction of Amit Shah, the Home Ministry, and the BJP-led central government, describing the pervasive fear in Delhi as unprecedented.
Highlighting the severity of the issue, he pointed out that bomb threats targeting schools are occurring repeatedly, endangering children. He reminded the BJP-led central government, “It’s their responsibility for maintaining law and order in the capital. Even the children of BJP leaders attend these threatened schools.”
CM Atishi voiced her concern on her X handle, stating, “After the daily incidents of ransom, murders, firing in Delhi, now threats of bombing of schools are being received. The law and order situation in Delhi has never been so bad before. The BJP-ruled central government has failed in its only task of providing security to the people of Delhi…”
Meanwhile, senior AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP, Sanjay Singh posted on his X handle, stating, “Amit Shah Ji, what deep sleep are you in? Wake up! Bomb threats are being issued to schools in the nation’s capital, Delhi, right under your nose.”
