In a bold move, senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and architect of Delhi’s education revolution, Manish Sisodia, will contest the upcoming assembly elections from Jangpura instead of his long-held Patparganj constituency. Featured in AAP’s second candidate list released on Monday, Manish Sisodia expressed heartfelt gratitude to party chief Arvind Kejriwal for entrusting him with this new responsibility, pledging to work closely with the people and volunteers of Jangpura while maintaining strong ties with Patparganj.
Manish Sisodia’s message to Jangpura Volunteers
In a letter addressed to Jangpura volunteers, senior AAP leader and former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia stated, “Under the leadership of Arvind Kejriwal, the AAP has entrusted me with the responsibility of contesting the election from your constituency, Jangpura. This is not merely a responsibility to fight an election, but a commitment to ensure that every child in Jangpura receives quality education, every woman feels safe, every street and alley is clean, and every family has access to their basic needs—electricity, water, healthcare, and employment—without any hindrance.”
He further stated that his resolve is to fulfill the dreams of the people of Jangpura by working together with the AAP volunteers to bring real, lasting change.
Manish Sisodia acknowledged the invaluable contribution of the dedicated AAP volunteers in Jangpura, saying, “From the inception of the AAP, Jangpura has been home to some of the most dedicated volunteers who have set an example through their hard work and commitment to the party’s cause. It is your dedication that has generated immense love and trust for the party among the people of Delhi.”
Reflecting on his political journey, Manish Sisodia recalled that he had been elected three times as an MLA from the Patparganj constituency, which he considers the birthplace of his political career. However, the decision to contest from Jangpura was influenced by a heartfelt request from his colleague, Avadh Ojha, who expressed his wish to start his political journey from Patparganj, a place that has become a beacon of education-driven politics. “When Avadh Ojha decided to join the party and expressed his desire to contest from Patparganj, I was deeply moved by his vision. I realized that I should respect his wish to begin his journey from there,” said Manish Sisodia.
The senior AAP leader also revealed that he received overwhelming support from various volunteers and leaders across different constituencies, who proposed that if Avadh Ojha contested from Patparganj, he should run from Jangpura. “This proposal is a reflection of your trust in me, and I am deeply honored by the affection shown to me by volunteers and leaders alike,” he shared.
However, he chose to honor the request of Jangpura’s sitting MLA, Praveen Deshmukh, who is also a dear friend and a ‘small brother’ to him. “Praveen Deshmukh’s heartfelt request for me to contest from Jangpura reflects his big heart and deep emotions for the people of this constituency. I have accepted his request out of respect for him and his love for the people,” Manish Sisodia explained.
Manish Sisodia assured the people of Jangpura, “I am here to fight this election with your trust. I have come here relying on you, and I hope you will not let me down. You are Manish Sisodia, and you are Arvind Kejriwal. It is your hard work, your dedication, and your spirit that will take this constituency and our party to new heights. I am here to fulfill the dream you have dreamed and the struggle you have undertaken.”
In the coming days, Manish Sisodia will meet with each volunteer in Jangpura to discuss the way forward. “I will be meeting every volunteer in Jangpura over the next two to three days. I will send you the schedule for these meetings by tomorrow morning, and we will work together to create a vision for the future of Jangpura,” he said.
“I assure you that your struggle and hard work will never go in vain. Together, we will improve the lives of every person in Jangpura,” Manish Sisodia concluded.
Manish Sisodia’s message to his comrades from Patparganj
In a heartfelt letter addressed to the AAP volunteers from Patparganj, former Deputy CM and Patparganj MLA Manish Sisodia wrote, “Today, I want to share something significant with you, and as I do, my heart is overwhelmed with emotions for every dedicated worker in Patparganj. This journey, which we embarked upon together in 2012, has been the most memorable and pride-filled chapter of my life,” said Manish Sisodia, expressing gratitude to his supporters.”
He recalled the formative role of Patparganj in his political career, saying, “In many ways, my political journey began in Patparganj. It was here that I learned to walk by holding your hands. Together, we gave Patparganj a direction, an identity that is now appreciated across Delhi and the nation.”
Highlighting the transformative journey of the constituency, Manish Sisodia stated, “Every transformation, every developmental milestone here has been built on the foundation we laid together. Whatever we have achieved in Patparganj today would not have been possible without the unwavering commitment of people like you.”
Manish Sisodia emphasized the revolutionary progress Patparganj has made in education, calling it a model for the nation. “Patparganj is no longer just an assembly constituency; it has become a symbol of a new revolution centered on education-driven politics. It is the land where we proved that government schools can be world-class. From opening new schools to transforming broken buildings into magnificent campuses, and equipping schools with swimming pools, state-of-the-art labs, and libraries – this is not just change but a movement.”
He elaborated on how education in Patparganj has become a beacon of hope. “Schools in Patparganj are no longer merely educational institutions; they have become laboratories for shaping the future. This region has shown the nation that voting for education is not a dream but a powerful reality. All of this has been made possible by the contributions of committed and aware citizens like you. You have demonstrated that when people decide, they can steer society in a new direction through education.”
On passing the baton to Avadh Ojha, Manish Sisodia expressed admiration for the educationist’s dedication. “As you know, Mr. Avadh Ojha has decided to join the Aam Aadmi Party. It is a matter of immense pride for us that a person who has made significant contributions in the field of education has chosen to be part of our journey.”
He continued, “When Ojha Ji expressed his desire to start his political career from Patparganj, his words deeply touched me. He said, ‘I am an educationist, and my greatest wish is to begin my political journey from this laboratory of education – Patparganj.’ His vision and passion for education became a source of inspiration for me.”
Explaining his decision to step away, Manish Sisodia said, “Leaving Patparganj, the place where my political journey began and which has given me three consecutive victories, was not an easy decision. But seeing Ojha Sir’s dedication to education, I felt that this was not just about stepping away from a seat but about taking a significant step forward for Patparganj and the nation’s education system.”
“With a strong sense of resolve and pride, I decided to hand over the Patparganj seat to Ojha Sir, so he can take it to new heights. This is not a sacrifice but my contribution to the future of Patparganj, to education, and to the brighter future of our country’s children,” he added.
The Patparganj MLA emphasized his ongoing commitment to ensuring Ojha’s success. “It is both a privilege and a responsibility for me to ensure the success of someone so deeply committed to education as they step into electoral politics with our party. To fulfill this responsibility, I look toward all of you for support,” he said.
Reflecting on the challenges of the past two years, Manish Sisodia acknowledged the resilience of his supporters. “The past two years have been challenging not only for me but for all of you. I was imprisoned for 17 months due to political conspiracies. But I faced all those hardships with the confidence that you would look after my family and the people of Patparganj in my absence. I am proud that during those trying times, in my absence, each one of you not only stood by but also became Manish Sisodia for Patparganj.”
In a deeply emotional conclusion, Manish Sisodia likened leaving Patparganj to leaving one’s home. “Leaving Patparganj feels akin to a child stepping out of their home to explore and learn from the wider world. But just as the home remains in the child’s heart, no matter where they go, Patparganj will always stay close to my heart.”
“Patparganj is ingrained in my soul and will forever remain so. Regardless of my role in the party or government in the future, my bond with you will remain unbreakable until my last breath,” Manish Sisodia concluded.
