“Kejriwal will stand with the people of Delhi; We will force Amit Shah and the BJP to provide proper security and ensure safety for every citizen of Delhi,” asserted AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal as he intensifies his urgent call for accountability from the BJP-led administration and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, for the worsening “jungle raj” in Delhi.
On Tuesday, the AAP Chief met the grieving family of Manish, a young man brutally murdered in Shalimar Bagh, and condemned the alarming rise in crime across the national capital. “The situation has spiraled out of control—people are afraid to step out of their homes after sunset,” he said, vowing to stand with Delhiites and fight for their safety amid the growing chaos. During this, senior AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh and Cabinet Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj were also present.
Addressing the media after meeting the grieving family of a young victim, AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal said, “We are currently standing in the ‘jhuggi’ area of Shalimar Bagh, where a deeply shocking incident took place just a few days ago. Around 3 a.m., after attending a jagran, two young boys from this ‘jhuggi basti’, Himanshu and Manish, were returning home. As they reached the gate of their house, a group of seven to eight boys suddenly attacked them. Manish was brutally stabbed multiple times, leading to his death, while Himanshu managed to survive.”
The AAP Supremo further revealed troubling details of the incident. “I have been informed that Manish was still breathing for some time after the attack. However, the police failed to take him to the hospital in time or provide timely medical assistance. If he had received proper medical care on time, Manish might have been alive today,” he said.
Arvind Kejriwal expressed serious concerns over the police’s handling of the case, stating, “A major concern in this case is that eyewitness Himanshu’s official statement has not been taken as of now. It is being said that the statement recorded in the FIR in Himanshu’s name is false and not his own. This clearly indicates that the police are trying to protect the culprits. It raises questions about whether the police are working under some external pressure or orders from higher authorities.”
In a strong demand for accountability, the AAP Chief said, “I want to ask Home Minister Amit Shah: if he cannot handle the law and order situation in Delhi, and if his priority is only politics across the country, then he should resign. If the BJP cannot manage Delhi, they should step down and let someone else ensure law and order.”
He also emphasized the growing sense of fear among Delhi residents. “While leaving this ‘jhuggi’ cluster, I noticed that people are living in constant fear. Residents are saying it has become difficult to step out of their homes after 6 or 7 p.m. Everyone is scared,” said the AAP Supremo.
He further added, “Instead of providing protection, the police are allegedly threatening people, warning them not to speak out. The criminals who committed this horrific act are roaming freely, openly intimidating others, and threatening that anyone who speaks up will not be spared.”
Addressing the BJP and Union Home Minister Amit Shah directly, Arvind Kejriwal questioned, “What has Amit Shah done to Delhi? The people of Delhi will not tolerate this, and we will unite them against this. Ever since I have started meeting the victim families in every nook and corner of Delhi, people are telling me about such horrific incidents. I am receiving countless calls, messages, and letters from people across the city. They are telling me about the worsening conditions in their areas—drug dealing, chain snatching, phone thefts, and rising crime. There is chaos everywhere in Delhi.”
In conclusion, Arvind Kejriwal vowed to stand with the people of Delhi and fight for their safety. “In the coming days, I will visit all these affected areas. Kejriwal will stand with the people of Delhi and ensure their voices are heard. Together, we will force Amit Shah and the BJP to provide proper security and ensure safety for every citizen of Delhi. I, Kejriwal, am with the people of Delhi and will continue to fight for their rights and safety,” he affirmed.
