The Aam Aadmi Party has come strongly in support of International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) following recent unwarranted action against the organization in Bangladesh. Senior AAP Leader Manish Sisodia and Delhi Cabinet Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj visited ISKCON Delhi today to meet with priests and extend their support. The leaders strongly condemned the arrest of Sant Chinmoy Krishna Das asserted that claims leading to action against him are baseless and unjustified, emphasizing ISKCON’s global mission of promoting peace, harmony, and humanitarian service.
Manish Sisodia urged the Government of India to engage with the Bangladeshi authorities to ensure the security of ISKCON devotees and the broader Hindu community in Bangladesh. He called for a diplomatic counter to the false narratives being spread about the organization and emphasized the importance of upholding the reputation of an institution dedicated to global peace and community service.
Speaking to the media, Manish Sisodia asserted that India must respond strongly to defend ISKCON’s reputation. “How can an organization that has spread the message of humanity and peace globally be labeled a terrorist organization?” he questioned. Manish Sisodia emphasized that the Indian government must take this matter seriously, with the Prime Minister and Home Minister voicing clear support for ISKCON. “It is unacceptable for any country or regime to call an organization that promotes love and peace a terrorist group. India must stand up and respond firmly,” he added.
Manish Sisodia highlighted that the accusations against ISKCON are not only a threat to the organization’s image but also to the safety of its members in Bangladesh. “This requires immediate action from the Indian government, including diplomatic measures to address these baseless allegations,” he said.
Manish Sisodia also took to X(formerly Twitter), to talk about the issue. He wrote, “ISKCON temples in Bangladesh are being attacked, idols are being destroyed and prominent leaders like Chinmoy Krishna Das being arrested without bail. Today, we visited the ISKCON temple in Delhi and met with Mahant Vijendra Nandan Das, Abhay Gaur Das, Pradeep Malhotra, and Yudhishthir Govind Das regarding this issue.”
He added, “Efforts are being made to label those who spread love and brotherhood through the Hare Ram Hare Krishna mantra as terrorists, while the Indian government remains passive—this is shameful. We must unite vigorously to ensure justice for ISKCON and its followers, as this concerns our cultural heritage and secularism. Jai Shree Krishna.”
Cabinet Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj also expressed his concern, calling for India to act decisively. “ISKCON represents the values of harmony and compassion that are a part of India’s heritage. Any attempt to malign this organization must be met with a firm response from our government,” he stated.
