In a charged address to divisional in-charges of Chandni Chowk and New Delhi, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal set the tone for the upcoming assembly elections, urging his team to secure victory in all 70 seats. Drawing a parallel to the Mahabharata, he likened the ‘dharmayuddha’ to a battle between the Kauravas, armed with money and power, and the Pandavas, backed by God and the public.
Highlighting AAP’s welfare initiatives, Arvind Kejriwal hits back at the BJP for targeting Delhi’s free electricity, water, education, healthcare, pilgrimage, and women’s bus travel schemes in its quest for control. During this, senior leaders Manish Sisodia, Satyendar Jain, National General Secretary (Organization) Dr. Sandeep Pathak, Delhi State Convenor Gopal Rai and other senior leaders were present.
AAP Supremo Arvind Kejriwal stated that centuries ago, Kurukshetra witnessed a ‘dharma yudh’ (righteous war) between the Kauravas and the Pandavas. The Kauravas commanded immense power, an enormous army, and limitless wealth, while the Pandavas had only Lord Krishna by their side.
He said, “Similarly, we have God with us today. I want to stress this because Delhi’s current situation bears a striking resemblance. The upcoming election is nothing short of a ‘dharma yudh’, and just three days ago, during the mayoral election, we received a clear sign that God is on our side.”
Arvind Kejriwal elaborated on the BJP’s extensive plots to secure victory in the mayoral election, pointing out their ‘chakravyuh’. He noted, “Someone from the BJP told me that BJP leaders, confident of their win, had even planned a celebratory rally from the Civic Centre to their headquarters, only to face defeat by three votes.”
“But Lord Krishna was with us. He used his ‘Sudarshan Chakra’ (divine discus), and we triumphed by three votes. This shows that God’s immense power is on our side. They may have vast resources and operate as a full-fledged national party, while we are a small party with limited means. Yet, our strength lies in the fact that God is with us,” Arvind Kejriwal asserted.
The Former Delhi CM also recalled, “When I was in jail, this belief gave me strength: that God is with us, and no one can harm us if we keep doing our work with sincerity.”
The AAP Chief added, “After their loss in the mayoral election, the BJP is furious and panicking. Their leaders are leaving the party and joining us. Just 10 days ago, Brahm Singh Tanwar joined us. Then BB Tyagi joined. Today, Anil Jha has also joined. Their frustration is growing. In this election, they will do everything to defeat us. But we need to be prepared. Hard work is essential. Hard work combined with strategy and planning will ensure success.”
Arvind Kejriwal outlined plans to train party leaders, emphasizing the need to prepare every Mandal Incharge for the campaign. “Each Mandal Incharge will oversee around five booths, with each booth comprising approximately 200–250 families. For every 50 families, organize one meeting—this means five meetings per booth. Each meeting must be impactful, aiming to touch their hearts. Personally visit the families in their homes. With five booths per Mandal Incharge and five meetings per booth, that’s 25 meetings in total, which can be easily managed in 15 days, just one or two meetings a day,” he explained.
Arvind Kejriwal also urged his party leaders to dedicate time to the election campaign, promising that hard work would result in an unprecedented campaign across Delhi. “If you work diligently for these 15 days, we’ll create an unprecedented campaign across Delhi. With 13,000 booths and five meetings per booth, that’s 65,000 meetings in 15 days. If we achieve this, no one can defeat us. Even God will be pleased with our effort.”
Further, he emphasized, “Remember, every vote matters. Focus on winning hearts, not arguments. Sometimes you win an argument but lose a person’s heart. Instead, agree with them, acknowledge their points, and win them over. If someone criticizes me, acknowledge and tell them we’ll improve this time. We have already done a lot of work, but some remain. Ask for another chance to address the remaining issues.”
The AAP National Convener stated, “My dream is to make every Delhiite a member of the Aam Aadmi Party. One day, even BJP leaders in Delhi will join our party.”
Arvind Kejriwal appealed to the party workers who can take time off from work to dedicate themselves fully to the mission. “For those who can, I urge you to take leave for three months. These elections will be intense. Your family is your first responsibility, but if possible, dedicate yourself fully to this mission.”
Arvind Kejriwal reminded party workers of the key achievements made by the AAP government in Delhi, urging them to highlight these during their campaign. “When you campaign, highlight our work. People already know about it, but emphasize the six free ‘revdis’ provided by the AAP government to Delhiites. We have not stolen money or engaged in corruption. These people take all the money home.”
He continued, “We are asking the BJP two questions. First, out of the six welfare schemes we implemented in Delhi, the BJP has a government in 20 states. Can they name even one state where you have implemented any one of these six schemes?”
The AAP Supremo asserted that in Delhi, we provide 24-hour electricity. There is no need for inverters or generators. Before us, in 2014 and earlier, power cuts lasted for 10 hours or more. Check any BJP-ruled state, including Uttar Pradesh, where power cuts still last for 8–10 hours. Ask Delhhites, ‘Do they want power cuts in Delhi like UP or Bihar?’
“The BJP doesn’t know how to provide 24-hour electricity, only we do. We are engineers; they are uneducated leaders. The work they couldn’t accomplish in 20 states, or even in Gujarat after 30 years of rule, how will they manage it in Delhi? They will ruin Delhi,” he reasoned.
Arvind Kejriwal warned, “They provide electricity at exorbitant rates. Only Delhi and Punjab have zero electricity bills. In their 20 states, nowhere do electricity bills come to zero. We must inform Delhiites that in BJP-ruled states like UP, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, and Madhya Pradesh, electricity bills are not zero. If Delhiites vote for them, power cuts will return, and electricity bills worth thousands of rupees will start arriving again.”
He continued, “Today, children are studying in Delhi’s excellent government schools, unlike any in BJP-ruled states. If people vote for them, they will destroy our schools, Mohalla Clinics, and hospitals. The free medicines and treatments people receive will stop. Delhi is the only state where women can travel for free in buses, none of their 20 states offer this. They will end it too. We have made water bills zero, but they started issuing inflated bills when I was in jail.”
The former Delhi CM urged Delhiites not to pay these inflated water bills. “When our government returns, we will waive them all. Electricity, water, education, healthcare, pilgrimage, and free bus travel for women, these are the six revdis we provide. The BJP doesn’t, because they don’t intend to. They want power in Delhi, not to serve but to shut these down,” he asserted.
Arvind Kejriwal issued a second challenge to the BJP: “For the past 10 years, we have governed Delhi, and the BJP has ruled at the Centre. In Delhi, there are two governments, one run by the BJP through the LG and one by the AAP. The LG has significant powers, and the BJP led-central government has vast financial resources. Meanwhile, we have limited power and a small budget. Yet, we have achieved so much. Can the BJP name one thing they’ve done for Delhiites in 10 years? With all their money and power, can they point to a single achievement?”
The former Delhi CM stated that I have built so many roads and streets in unauthorized colonies, over 10,000 kilometres. Why didn’t they do this? True credit would have been theirs if I had built 500 Mohalla Clinics and they had built 5,000. But they haven’t done anything.
“So, on what basis are they asking for votes? What are they telling people? Why should Delhiites vote for them? If they had done 10 times the work I have, I wouldn’t even deserve to ask for votes,” he asserted.
Arvind Kejriwal concluded, “In all 70 seats of Delhi, it is Arvind Kejriwal contesting the election. Everyone should look at my face. I assure you, I will not give tickets to any relative, acquaintance, or friend. There will be no nepotism. I will evaluate candidates based on their work, chances of winning, and public opinion. After considering these factors, whatever decision the party makes, we must stand united behind it.”
AAP’s National General Secretary (Organisation) Sandeep Pathak, addressing the media, stated that Arvind Kejriwal is meeting with all the major office bearers in Delhi. He said, “The meeting that just took place was for the Chandni Chowk district, and in this manner, he will meet with the office bearers of all the Lok Sabha constituencies.”
He added, “Arvind Kejriwal is meeting with all the major office bearers in Delhi, and in this way, he will continue to meet with the office bearers of other constituencies. The district conference is being held at one location, and the schedule for other areas will follow in the coming time. He will then engage with booth-level and mohalla-level office bearers.”
The AAP National General Secretary (Organisation) said, “The officers who are motivated for this election—I have full belief that everyone agrees this time, Arvind Kejriwal will win by an even greater margin than last time.” He added, “The Aam Aadmi Party is not shaken; it is deeply rooted in the two crore people of Delhi.”
He further stated, “The foundation of the party is based on the good work that Arvind Kejriwal has done. A party is not made by one individual, nor does it break because of one individual. Every person is free to choose their own path, and we respect that.”
Dr. Sandeep Pathak further stated, “Our faith and our work are directed towards the two crore people of Delhi. We are doing that and will continue to do so. Electricity will remain free for everyone, metro fares will stay affordable, and work on schools and hospitals will continue. In the coming times, many more projects will be undertaken. Our politics is based on work, and that is what we are focused on.”
AAP Delhi State Convenor Gopal Rai emphasized that the focus of the upcoming elections is on Arvind Kejriwal, regardless of the candidates contesting in individual constituencies. He stated, “Arvind Kejriwal will contest elections in all 70 assembly constituencies. Therefore, we must work for him, promote the broom symbol, and form the government in Delhi with a huge majority.”
The AAP Delhi State Convenor, “The decision on who will be the candidate lies with Arvind Kejriwal, and our role is to implement his decision. All Mandal in-charges and Mandal presidents must take responsibility for their respective Mandals, embodying the spirit of Arvind Kejriwal. The responsibility of fighting and winning this battle rests on your shoulders. We must prepare collectively for this battle starting today.”
