Aam Aadmi Party has demanded the resignation of the entire union cabinet over its failure at controlling the law and order situation in Delhi. Coming down heavily upon the BJP after the Rohini Bomb Blast on Sunday, Senior AAP Leader Manish Sisodia called the incident a direct result of the failure of the Delhi LG and the Union Home Minister who are custodians of Law & Order in the capital.
In a press conference, Former Deputy Chief Minister and Senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia expressed concern over the recent blast near a school in Rohini, just before the festive season. He highlighted the seriousness of the incident, particularly as people are gathering in large numbers for festival-related activities and markets are becoming increasingly crowded. He said, “In such a scenario, a blast in Delhi indicates that our central government is sitting idly by, completely unconcerned about the people of Delhi.”
Manish Sisodia further emphasised, “The Central Government has no concern whatsoever about Delhi’s law and order, intelligence, or public safety. Today’s blast highlights the central government’s total failure and negligence toward the people of Delhi.” He mentioned that the blast caused damage to the school’s wall, and expressed gratitude that it happened on a holiday.
Manish Sisodia emphasized the potential tragedy that could have unfolded if the incident had occurred on a school day, highlighting the risk it posed to the innocent children who attend the school to build their futures.
He said that while he initially thought he was the only one concerned about the blast, since the morning, he had received at least two dozen calls and messages from people advising him to avoid crowds, citing the worsening situation in Delhi. He added, “This is a clear indication that people in Delhi are terrified due to this incident and the negligence of the BJP and the central government. The BJP’s central government is asleep, and they have no idea of the fear that today’s blast has instilled in the people of Delhi.”
Manish Sisodia noted that if it were only about today’s blast, it might be considered an isolated incident, but people were already reading about another troubling event from the previous day. An open firing in the Welcome area where seven rounds were fired, injuring a girl. He questioned, “What is happening in Delhi? Anyone can come, plant a bomb, or openly fire rounds without fear. This is not just about today’s and yesterday’s incidents.”
Manish Sisodia stated, “Over the past few days, we have seen a rise in gangster activities, extortion threats to businessmen, and firing outside shops. This is happening almost every day in Delhi. Recently, it was highlighted in the media how a gangster openly threatened a car showroom owner in Naraina Vihar and demanded money.
He continued, “Before that, we saw a similar incident in Mahipalpur, where a hotel owner was threatened and fired at by a gangster. Similar incidents have been happening across Delhi, including in Nangloi, where a gangster fired outside a sweet shop and demanded extortion money.”
“What is going on in Delhi? Does the central government even realize what their responsibilities are? Does the BJP have any sense that they are responsible for Delhi’s law and order?,” the former Deputy CM questioned. He criticized the BJP, pointing out that while they are in charge of law and order in Delhi through the police, they have failed to manage the situation.
Instead of addressing the growing concerns about public safety, Manish Sisodia said that the BJP was preoccupied with obstructing the work being done for the people of Delhi by Arvind Kejriwal.
Manish Sisodia called out the BJP for obstructing AAP’s efforts in education, health, water, and road services in Delhi. He stated, “Stop playing petty politics over these issues and start focusing on constructive work for the people. Delhiites are living in fear during the festive season. Have some shame and fix the city’s law and order situation. Ensure such incidents don’t recur, and provide real assurances to the people.”
The former deputy CM further reiterated the urgency of the worsened law and order situation on the watch of BJP, saying, “All of the BJP’s leaders, their entire machinery, intelligence and agencies are focused solely on stopping Arvind Kejriwal’s work. I want to tell the BJP again: get some sense that Delhi is in danger. Law and order are collapsing, and gangsters are running the city, just like in the movies about 1990s Mumbai. If there’s any shame left, fix the law and order in Delhi.”
Worried, Manish Sisodia said to the people of Delhi that you’ve seen what happens when BJP is in charge of law and order. They’re incompetent to handle any responsibility except destroying and ruining things that are created by someone else. He added, “They’ve handed over their responsibility of Delhi’s law and order to gangsters. If, by mistake, you vote for BJP in the upcoming elections, they will ruin the schools, electricity, water, and hospitals, everything that Arvind Kejriwal has built through good governance, just like they have ruined law and order.”
He urged Delhiites to be vigilant about the BJP by adding, “With festivals around the corner, and fear is widespread, dozens of people call or send me messages saying, ‘Stay at home, it’s not safe outside. Markets are crowded, and under BJP’s watch, the police are sitting idle. They’re neither conducting intelligence work nor maintaining law and order.’ So, I repeat: we are all in danger. Delhi is in danger because of BJP’s negligence and failure.”
Meanwhile, Manish Sisodia concluded by saying that the BJP must resign from the centre if they can not manage the law and order in the nation’s capital. The people of Delhi gave the BJP the responsibility for law and order, but they are failing. If they can’t handle law and order in the capital, what bigger failure can there be?
Delhi Cabinet Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj added, “The BJP-led central government has only a few responsibilities in Delhi: the police and the traffic police. The idleness of police to the deteriorating law and order situation is clear for everyone to see. The state of traffic is just as bad with endless jams, and the traffic police are nowhere to be seen.”
The Minister expressed that there’s no planning for the festive season from the LG or the central government. He said, “Their third responsibility is the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), in which both the Vice Chairman and LG are facing contempt proceedings in the Apex Court for illegally cutting down 1,100 trees. The Supreme Court has asked LG to submit an affidavit.”
Giving an F to the BJP on its scorecard in Delhi, Saurabh Bharadwaj stated, “The BJP-led central government and its representative, the LG of Delhi, have completely failed in their responsibilities.”
Saurabh Bharadwaj was bugged by a question that kept coming to his mind: “If there’s waterlogging, the LG takes all the journalists to inspect the sewers. If a road is in poor condition, he brings everyone to inspect it. But yesterday, when there was firing between two groups in Delhi’s Welcome Colony, where was the LG?”
“Today, there was a bomb blast in Delhi. Where is the LG? He is not in Delhi. A few days ago, he was on an international trip, but this was hidden from both the elected government of Delhi and the media. He has been in Goa for several days, yet the media isn’t reporting this,” revealed the Delhi Minister.
The senior AAP leader added that the LG is not in Delhi and is expected to return on Tuesday. He said, “I urge him to come back and fulfil his constitutional duties. He should visit these areas and conduct daily inspections of police stations in the evenings to improve law and order in Delhi.”
