In a high-energy roadshow in Haryana’s Dabwali, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal urged voters to back his party, pledging free electricity, top-tier schools, and healthcare. Greeted with flowers and garlands by throngs of supporters, the AAP chief vowed that only AAP could deliver real change. “First see the schools and Mohalla clinics in Delhi, then vote for AAP,” he declared.
Arvind Kejriwal took potshots at the BJP-ruled states like Haryana for offering the highest electricity rates, contrasting them with AAP-governed Delhi and Punjab, where citizens enjoy free, 24-hour power.
Addressing the roadshow at Dabwali, AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal said, “Today I have come from Delhi to campaign for our brother Kuldeep (Gadrana) ji. You must be knowing that these people put me in jail for five months. I have come to meet you after being released from jail.”
The AAP Supremo stated, “I have been serving the people of Delhi as the Chief Minister for 10 years with full honesty. There are only two states in the whole country where electricity is available for free and 24 hours—Delhi and Punjab. And where do you get the most expensive electricity in the country? It is in Haryana, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh. Electricity is very expensive in the states run by the BJP governments. “Is the person who provides cheapest electricity, free electricity corrupt or the one who gives expensive electricity?” he reasoned.
The AAP chief said, “In 10 years, I built good schools in Delhi, ended the education mafia; made water and electricity free, built good roads for the people, built excellent Mohalla clinics and hospitals. And you (BJP people) say Kejriwal is a thief. They have made a fake case against me; they are afraid of my honesty.
“Their aim was to tarnish Kejriwal’s image, send him to jail. So that the public will think that Kejriwal must have done something wrong. Today when I came out of jail, the whole of Delhi is saying that Kejriwal is unquestionably an honest person,” he said.
He said that no one in the whole world believes that I am dishonest. No one leaves the job of a peon in today’s time, but I resigned. “I told the people of Delhi that if you believe that Kejriwal is honest, then vote for me again. I will sit on the CM’s chair only if you vote for me, otherwise not,” said the AAP chief.
Arvind Kejriwal said they (BJP) tried to break my will in jail—tortured me in many ways, stopped my medicines. I am diabetic and take insulin, my insulin was stopped. My kidneys would have failed. I had to approach the court to get a direction that insulin should be given to Kejriwal.
“They (BJP) wanted to harass me psychologically in many ways. They repeatedly pressured me to join the BJP, the NDA. They don’t know that I am from Haryana. You can break the will of anyone, but you cannot crush the spirit of a person from Haryana. I am from Haryana; I have not given in. I am coming among you after being released from jail after 5 months,” he added.
The AAP National Convenor affirmed, “I am proud to be a son of Haryana and for making Haryana proud not only in the whole country but in the whole world. After getting educated in Haryana, your younger brother, your son (Kejriwal) moved out and formed the government in Delhi and Punjab.
“No government in India after 75 years of independence has done the kind of work that is being done in Delhi and Punjab today. Electricity has been made available 24×7 and for free. These parties are not going to make your electricity free; I will make electricity free in Haryana too,” he said.
Arvind Kejriwal said people are asking me whether AAP government is coming to power in Haryana. “I say that the government is not being formed without us. Whatever government is formed in Haryana will be formed with the support of the Aam Aadmi Party,” he said.
Assuring the facilities to be extended to Haryana that are available in Delhi and Punjab, the AAP chief said whichever government is formed here, it is my responsibility to make your electricity free. “I will make it free like I did in Delhi. If someone in your house is ill, don’t worry about the treatment. We will build Mohalla clinics and great hospitals. We will do all the work that we need to do in Delhi and Punjab,” he said.
Arvind Kejriwal told the people of Haryana to enquire from their relatives and acquaintances from Punjab and Delhi whether electricity and medicines are available for free there; are the hospitals and schools good there? “First go and see the schools in Delhi and then vote for me,” he said.
Arvind Kejriwal said that Dabwali has been captured by one family. People of that one family are contesting elections by taking tickets from different parties. You can vote for any party, but the seat will go to only one family. The people of Dabwali want freedom from that family, they should vote for Aam Aadmi Party.
He appealed that you should vote for a person who lives among you. Our candidate Kuldeep is from here. He was a student leader first, then a Sarpanch. He was a member of the Zila Parishad. Kuldeep stands for you even at midnight. Those whose many generations are in politics will not have the feeling of serving the public. It is my responsibility to get the work done from whichever government is formed with the support of Aam Aadmi Party.
Making an oblique reference to the dynasty politics of the Chautalas, who have dominated the Dabwali constituency by fielding candidates from their family for decades, Arvind Kejriwal said that Dabwali has been captured by one family. “People of that one family are contesting elections by taking tickets from different parties. You can vote for any party, but the seat will go to only one family. If the people of Dabwali want freedom from that family, they should vote for Kuldeep Gadrana,” he said.
The AAP National Convenor appealed to the people to vote for a person who lives among them. “Our candidate Kuldeep is from here. He was a student leader first, then a Sarpanch.
