“The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) wants to increase the electricity prices in Delhi,” pointed out the senior AAP leader and Delhi Government Minister Atishi, in a fiery address, just like the increase in the price of electricity connection in the BJP-ruled Uttar Pradesh.
Atishi stressed that only Arvind Kejriwal’s leadership can ensure 24×7 electricity at the lowest rates, a stark contrast to the BJP’s “costly and long power shedding” electricity model. ‘The people in the BJP-ruled states pay four times more for electricity’, asserted the Delhi Government Minister, vowing to block any price hikes orchestrated by the BJP through its Lieutenant Governor (LG).
Senior AAP leader and Delhi Government Minister Atishi said that the BJP government of Uttar Pradesh has increased the price of electricity connection in its state by 250%. Now in Uttar Pradesh, poor families, families living in villages, and farmer families who take small connections of 1 kilowatt (kW), earlier used to pay only Rs 1,200 for it, the BJP government has increased it by 250% to Rs 3,000.
The senior AAP leader shared, “If someone has to get a 5 kW connection, which is a normal thing for common middle-class households or families living in the urban spaces, this too has been increased by 118% by the BJP government of Uttar Pradesh from Rs 7,967 to Rs 17,365. That is an increase of 250% for a 1 kW connection and an increase of 118% for a 5 kW connection. This is the same BJP government of UP, which imposed 8-8 hours of power cuts in its big cities like Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, Sahibabad in the summer.”
“BJP’s model of electricity is long power cuts and the most expensive electricity. This is the reason why the people of Delhi need to bring Arvind Kejriwal back and make him the Chief Minister of Delhi. Otherwise, expensive electricity and long power cuts like in Uttar Pradesh will be seen in Delhi as well,” affirmed Atishi.
The Delhi Government Minister mentioned that the electricity model of Arvind Kejriwal, the AAP government of Delhi is 24×7 electricity and the cheapest electricity. This year, on June 19, the peak demand of 8,400 MW was met in Delhi without any load shedding.
“The AAP government in Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal government not only provides 24×7 electricity but also provides the cheapest electricity. There are 37 lakh families in Delhi whose electricity bill is zero. The bills of 15 lakh families who use between 200 to 400 units of electricity are half,” she added.
Sharing the data of electricity bill rates of more than 400 units in Delhi and BJP-ruled states across the country, Atishi stated that the bill for 400 units of electricity in Delhi is Rs 980. In Gujarat, Ahmedabad, the bill for 400 units comes to Rs 2,044. In Gurugram, Haryana, the bill for 400 units comes to Rs 2,300. In Uttar Pradesh, it comes to Rs 2,900, in Madhya Pradesh it comes to Rs 3,800 and in Maharashtra, it comes to Rs 4,460.
“In many states where BJP is in power, the bill for 400 units of electricity is 4 times more than in Delhi. That means long power cuts and the most expensive electricity is the BJP model,” said the Delhi Government Minister.
Atishi said, “Today I want to tell all the people of Delhi that when the elections come in February, the people of Delhi have to come together and make Arvind Kejriwal their Chief Minister again, only then Delhi will get 24×7 and the cheapest electricity.
“In the coming 4 months, as long as I have the responsibility of being the Chief Minister of Delhi, I will also try my best to protect the people of Delhi because I know that in the coming time, BJP will hatch some conspiracy to make electricity expensive in Delhi through its LG. I promise on behalf of the AAP and Arvind Kejriwal that we will not let the price of electricity increase in Delhi,” affirmed the Delhi Government Minister.
