In a major victory for AAP and its supporters, the Supreme Court has granted bail to AAP National Convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who has been behind bars for the past five months on Friday. The ruling sent shockwaves of joy through party ranks nationwide, with jubilant celebrations erupting across Delhi.
The AAP hailed the decision as a testament to the supremacy of the Constitution, while the court criticized the CBI’s arrest as a deliberate attempt to hinder Arvind Kejriwal’s release in the ongoing ED case.
Meanwhile, CM Arvind Kejriwal’s wife, Sunita Kejriwal, posted on Instagram, saying, ‘Congratulations to the AAP family. Congratulations on staying strong. I also hope for the early release of our other leaders.’
On Arvind Kejriwal receiving bail from the Supreme Court, senior AAP leader and former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia stated that Kejriwal was not arrested for any wrongdoing or corruption. Manish Sisodia said, “The BJP could not win the elections against us and could not break our party, so they orchestrated this arrest as a form of insurance, hoping that by imprisoning Kejriwal, they would cause our party to crumble and their government to fall.
“But I thank Baba Saheb, the Constitution of the country, the Supreme Court, and Abhishek Manu Singhvi. I congratulate every worker, councilor, MP, and MLA of the AAP. In this time of crisis, even when the BJP was trying to break us with all its strength and malice, we stood firm. We did not yield, we did not turn away, and we stuck to the truth. Truth has prevailed. We are very happy. This is not just about Arvind Kejriwal; it will also give strength to those fighting for the truth in the times to come,” affirmed the Ex-Deputy CM of Delhi.
Manish Sisodia said that this is a very emotional moment for all of us. ‘It was a very sad moment for everyone when our elder brother, friend, and mentor, Arvind Kejriwal, was put in jail in this manner. This was a very sorrowful time for every worker. People cried for him and prayed for his release. Today, those prayers have been answered. I thank them and also God for listening to us. Now, all the legal processes will be completed. We will all go to Arvind Kejriwal’s house to seek blessings from his parents and meet his wife.’”
Manish Sisodia further said, “Today, once again, truth has triumphed in the fight against lies and conspiracies. I salute the vision and foresight of Baba Saheb Ambedkar, who, 75 years ago, empowered the common people to stand against any future dictator.”
Meanwhile, Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann shared, “Ultimately truth has won. AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal has got bail from the Honorable Supreme Court. The bail granted to Arvind Kejriwal ji has proved that the truth can never be suppressed. Long Live the Revolution.”
Senior AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh said, “Arvind Kejriwal did the work of subduing the dictator of the country. Nothing was found anywhere in this so-called excise case. Nothing was found against any person. The BJP and Modi government tried to destroy the AAP and Arvind Kejriwal by creating a mountain of lies and using ED-CBI but they forgot that truth prevails and injustice ends. Dictatorship comes to an end. Arvind Kejriwal is coming out. Now we will participate strongly in the assembly elections of Haryana and Delhi. There will be an end to this dictatorial government, now its end is near.”
MP Sanjay Singh (@SanjayAzadSln) stated on his ‘X’ account: “Dictatorship cannot and will not work in a democracy. Dictators bow down, a fighter is needed. Modi’s tyrannical rule could not break the spirits of Arvind Kejriwal. The jail locks were broken, Arvind Kejriwal was freed. The mountain of lies is falling. The false cases of ED, CBI and BJP have been exposed. Satyamev Jayate!”
Senior Aam Aadmi Party leader and cabinet minister Saurabh Bharadwaj said, ” It was published in the newspapers today that about 40 people had been accused in this case and only two people were still in jail; hence, it was certain that Arvind Kejriwal would get bail. However, the way the Supreme Court commented today about the investigating agencies of the Central Government is a significant rebuke for the Central Government.
“Regarding the main investigating agency of the Centre, the Supreme Court said that the court’s previous remarks about the ‘parrot in a cage’ still apply to the CBI and other investigating agencies. It is crucial that the CBI not only appears independent but also demonstrates independence. The court also commented on how the CBI, through bullying and deceit, arrested Arvind Kejriwal immediately after he received bail from the lower court and the Supreme Court, even though he had not been arrested for 22 months prior,” said the Delhi Minister.
Saurabh Bharadwaj said that the entire effort of the Central Government and the investigating agencies was a conspiracy to keep Arvind Kejriwal in jail. “The Supreme Court bench even asked why such conditions have been imposed on the CM that he cannot go to the Secretariat, cannot sign files; This is beyond my understanding. But since these conditions have been imposed by another bench, I do not want to comment much on it.
“After today’s decision of the Supreme Court, if there is even an iota of integrity left within the Central Government, the Union Home Minister should resign, because the CBI comes under the Home Ministry. The court has clearly said that the central agency is working with malice and deceit. Therefore I feel that the Union Home Minister no longer has any right to continue in his post,” affirmed Saurabh Bharadwaj.
Saurabh Bharadwaj said, “Till now, we were intimidated with threats of imprisonment. Now we have come through it. Some stayed in jail for 5 months, some for 17 months, and some were released after 6 months. Now, what will PM Modi use to scare us? We have seen that he did everything within his power. We are fighting PM Modi, and now he has no ideas left. We ask PM Modi: what will he do now?”
Senior AAP leader and cabinet minister Atishi posted on her ‘X’ handle, saying , “Satyamev Jayate. Truth may be troubled, not defeated.”
AAP National General Secretary (organization) and Rajya Sabha Dr. Sandeep Pathak said that the bail to Arvind Kejriwal is not only for the party, but for the entire country, for every person who believes in progress and the judiciary. “I feel that truth has won and truth will continue to win in future too. We welcome the court’s decision, the entire country has welcomed it. It is very important for our country that the way the judiciary is giving orders, it will create confidence among the people of the country.
The AAP National General Secretary (Organisation) further added that no matter how dirty politics becomes, the judiciary of the country always delivers justice in favor of truth. This is a big thing and it is not just a matter of any one party or individual. Today is a historic day for the country. Whenever any dictator or any system tries to destroy the democracy of the country, then the judiciary and the constitutional systems of the country will come forward and protect the country.”
Dr. Sandeep Pathak (@SandeepPathak04) tweeted on his X handle, “Satyamev Jayate! Truth may be troubled, but not defeated. Thanks to the Honorable Supreme Court.”
Senior AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha shared, “First of all, on behalf of all the people of Delhi and the country, I want to say, ‘Welcome back, we all missed you’, to Arvind Kejriwal. Today, after a long struggle, Delhi Chief Minister and Delhi’s son Arvind Kejriwal is returning. I thank the Supreme Court of the country from the bottom of my heart, because the highest temple of justice in this country has today decided to free Arvind Kejriwal from jail.”
“Arvind Kejriwal is not just a name; he represents a brand of true and honest politics. Frightened by the growing popularity of this brand, the BJP kept him behind bars for 6 months. But now, as Kejriwal comes out of jail, every mother in Delhi is celebrating as if her own son is returning home after many months. Every sister is also celebrating, as if her own brother is returning home. The Aam Aadmi Party will grow stronger in the coming times. This struggle will give more strength to the Aam Aadmi Party. As a party worker and a citizen of the country, I wholeheartedly welcome this decision,” said the AAP MP.
Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha posted on his ‘X’ handle: “Welcome back Arvind Kejriwal. We missed you. Truth may be troubled but not defeated. Finally, the Supreme Court has given its verdict to free Delhi’s son Arvind Kejriwal from the shackles of jail. Thanks Supreme Court. With the return of Kejriwal ji, every mother of Delhi is celebrating as if her son is coming back. Arvind Kejriwal is not just a leader but a brand of honest politics.”
AAP Delhi State Convener and Cabinet Minister Gopal Rai said, “The Chief Minister of Delhi is coming out, and there is an atmosphere of happiness throughout Delhi regarding this. Many congratulations to everyone. This sends a message to Delhi and the entire country that no matter how strong a dictatorship is, it will eventually be defeated. Truth may be troubled, but it cannot be defeated. Many thanks to the Supreme Court. Satyamev Jayate. The locks of the jail have broken, and Arvind Kejriwal has been released. Inquilab Zindabad.”
AAP Rajya Sabha MP Harbhajan Singh (@AAPHarbhajhan) on his X account posted, “We are very happy when our dear leader Arvind Kejriwal got bail from the Supreme Court. This will give new energy to our workers and strengthen the Haryana campaign of Aam Aadmi Party. Arvind Kejriwal will serve the people with the same commitment in future also.”
