The Aam Aadmi Party suspects a big conspiracy behind disqualifying wrestler Vinesh Phogat in the final of the Paris Olympics. Senior AAP leader Reena Gupta said it seems to be a conspiracy to stop Vinesh Phogat from winning the gold medal in Olympics. Vinesh had staked a claim to win the gold medal for India by defeating the world’s number 1 Japanese wrestler. But today she was disqualified from the Olympics for being just 100 grams overweight.
Reena Gupta stated, “Vinesh Phogat had already suspected a conspiracy and said that her entire team has been selected by Brijbhushan Sharan Singh. This team may mix something in water that may lead to her disqualification.”
The senior AAP leader has appealed to the Union Sports Minister to raise his voice in support of Vinesh Phogat in front of the International Olympic Committee and tell the committee that if Vinesh does not get justice, India will boycott the Olympics.
Addressing a press conference here today, Aam Aadmi Party national spokesperson Reena Gupta said the whole country was waiting that tonight we all will sit and watch our daughter Vinesh Phogat win the gold medal on TV. Everyone was waiting that our daughter Vinesh Phogat will bring a medal for the country in the Olympics. But it has been learned that Vinesh Phogat has been disqualified from the Women’s Wrestling Olympics due to 100 grams more weight.
The AAP leader said, “Vinesh has defeated a player from Japan who has been winning in this category for 82 consecutive times. When Vinesh defeated that Japanese player (Yui Susaki), a 4-time champion, a wave of happiness ran through the country. We thought that Vinesh would win the first gold medal of this Olympics for the country, but all those dreams seem to be shattered when the news is coming that she is being eliminated due to being overweight by just 100 grams. Even if we drink a glass of water or eat a little something, our weight increases by that much.”
Reena Gupta said that many wrestling players are coming and saying that players sometimes lose 3 to 4 kg of weight in one night so that they can play in their category. Then how is it possible that Vinesh is being eliminated for being underweight by just 100 grams? There seems to be a big conspiracy behind this.
“It is possible that some foreign forces do not want India’s daughter to win the gold medal. It is beyond comprehension whether her coach did not support her or the team monitoring her weight did not take care of this. The weight of wrestling players is kept in mind all the time. They are weighed several times throughout the day so that their weight remains correct, and they are not disqualified,” she said.
The AAP national spokesperson further said that Vinesh Phogat has won many gold medals. She won the Asian Championship twice and the Commonwealth Championship thrice. Vinesh Phogat herself has a good experience of this sport. Her entire team also had full experience of how to take care of the weight of the player, and how to reduce the weight. “Still, how did such a big incident happen that our talented player who defeated the gold medallist of Japan is being excluded today?” she questioned.
Reena Gupta told that before going to the Olympics, Vinesh had also expressed the fear that there might be some kind of conspiracy against her. We should also not forget that Vinesh had raised her voice against BJP leader Brijbhushan Sharan Singh, accused of sexual exploitation. This is the same brave Vinesh who sat at Jantar Mantar to get justice for our wrestling daughters. Then how the Modi government drove her away from there. The BJP government at the centre did not support these players in any way and did not even expel Brijbhushan Sharan Singh from the party. “Vinesh had expressed apprehension that her coach and her entire team might be people selected by Brijbhushan Sharan Singh. She herself had said that someone might mix something in my water and make me drink it. Someone might mix such substances in it so that I fail the doping test. All these things should be investigated,” she said.
The senior AAP leader further said that we should not agree to the point of Vinesh’s disqualification. Our entire team is there. We should challenge this decision by filing our application with the International Olympic Association. How did it happen that it is even being said that Vinesh will not even get the silver medal. Whereas the whole country was expecting a gold medal from Vinesh. But she has won the silver medal, to which she has a right, they are saying that now she will not even be given that.
Reena Gupta said the Sports Minister should also intervene in this matter. They should say that if our Vinesh does not get justice, we will boycott the Olympics. If a country like India talks about boycotting the Olympics, it will be taken cognizance of immediately and Vinesh will get justice. “Vinesh has taken this sport forward with full dedication and hard work, she should get a gold medal. So that the daughters of the country, who consider her as their idol also get encouragement,” she said.
