Angry with the tragic death of a mother and son who fell into a drain under construction by DDA, Aam Aadmi Party workers staged a protest in Mayur Vihar Phase-3. A large number of workers, led by AAP MLAs Kuldeep Kumar and Rohit Mehraulia, reached the spot and shouted slogans against LG and the BJP. The workers carried placards with slogans like “LG resign” and “Take action against guilty officers”.
During the protest, AAP MLA from Kondli, Kuldeep Kumar, said that the woman and her two-and-a-half-year-old child died due to the negligence of DDA. This is not an accident, it is murder; LG has not taken any action against the guilty officers yet. AAP demands that a murder case be registered against the guilty and LG should resign from his post.
Kuldeep Kumar said that there is a deep drain of DDA on the road of Kerala School in Mayur Vihar Phase 3. After being told several times, DDA started the reconstruction of this drain. But the DDA officials did not take any precaution in this. The drain was neither covered nor barricaded. As a result, when the waterlogging happened, a mother and her child could not see this drain. The child fell into the drain and when his mother went to save him, she also fell into the drain, and both died. It is extremely sad that a mother and son lost their lives due to the negligence of DDA.
Kuldeep Kumar said that DDA is directly under LG. They create obstacles in the work of Delhi Government, but do not monitor the work of DDA, that comes directly under his control. LG has troubled the people of Delhi, and he has no right to remain in this post. He is only working on the political agenda of the BJP. We demand that LG should immediately resign from his post and act against the guilty officials of DDA and register a murder case. This is not an accident, it is murder. Apart from this, the victim’s family should get justice and proper compensation should be given. We stand with them in this fight for justice.
Speaking on the occasion, AAP MLA from Trilokpuri, Rohit Mehraulia, said that this drain located on the Delhi-UP border comes under DDA. We have gathered here to get justice for the family of the mother and son who lost their lives in the accident on Wednesday night. Our demand is that this family should be given proper compensation. DDA comes under LG. LG will have to take strict steps to prevent such incidents in future. If he had taken strict action after the Rajinder Nagar incident and suspended all the guilty officers, including the MCD Commissioner, then the Mayur Vihar incident would not have happened.
Rohit Mehraulia has demanded proper compensation for the victim’s family.
Rohit Mehroliya further said that to prevent such incidents in Delhi, it is necessary that LG takes strict action against the incompetent officers. But it is unfortunate that instead of taking action against these useless officers, he encourages them, promotes them and gives them posting at a good place. On the other hand, honest and working officers are punished and sent away. But the people of Delhi are watching everything and will give a befitting reply in the upcoming elections.
