Aam Aadmi Party Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh has written a letter to the Prime Minister demanding a law to stop the open loot by coaching institutes and to ensure their regular operation. In a letter written to the Prime Minister on Tuesday, he has demanded that a proper law should be made immediately to crackdown on coaching mafias, so that the tragic incident that happened in Old Rajinder Nagar is not repeated.
He has said that coaching mafias have been found to have a big role in the paper leak. Their connivance with the government officials has put the future of lakhs of youth in danger. They are charging lakhs of rupees as fees, but by ignoring the safety standards, they make students sit in dilapidated buildings, more than the capacity of the building. Similarly, students are also charged a hefty rent for accommodation, but hardly any facility is provided to them. Therefore, a central law should be made to stop this.
Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh stated in his letter, “I want to inform you that for the last few years, incidents of paper leaks are increasing continuously in the country. The connivance of the government officials and coaching mafias has put the future of lakhs of youth in the country in danger. Coaching mafia has been found to have a big role in the paper leaks happening in the country. Be it NEET paper or RET paper. Whether it is a government recruitment exam or a university admission exam, whether it is Gujarat or Uttar Pradesh or Bihar, coaching mafias have been involved in the exam paper leak everywhere.”
Sanjay Singh has further written, “On the other hand, coaching institutes in the country have become money minting machines. Lakhs of rupees are being demanded from parents in the name of admission in medical and IIT. Some are paying illegal fees of coaching by investing their life savings, while others are selling their property for a pittance. It is necessary to make government rules on this. Despite charging exorbitant fees, coaching operators try to earn as much as possible by spending the least amount. Therefore, they force more students than the capacity to sit in dilapidated buildings. These coaching institutes neither have proper exit gates nor entrance gates. While taking space on rent from building owners, neither the safety related aspects are taken care of, nor is anyone concerned about it.”
He continued, “Due to which, there is a constant threat of accidents to the students who get admitted in the institutes to build their future. The same is the condition of the students’ housing facilities, for which a hefty rent is charged and hardly any facility is provided. The operators of coaching institutes are putting the lives of students at risk. They are leaking papers openly by ignoring the rules. They are cheating the parents by charging hefty fees. The attitude of all the governments in this matter has been disappointing. A proper central law should be made to prevent this. Therefore, keeping in mind the future of the students, it is a humble request to you that a proper law should be made immediately to crackdown on the coaching mafia, so that the tragic incident that happened in Old Rajinder Nagar does not recur.”
