The Aam Aadmi Party has appealed to the BJP and the Lieutenant Governor, Delhi to not play with the bright future of lakhs of children of Delhi under their ‘Kam Roko’ campaign launched against the Arvind Kejriwal government. AAP Delhi State Convenor Shri Gopal Rai said the BJP through its LG has now started ruining the wonderful education model of Delhi under their ‘Kam Roko’ campaign. The most dangerous face of the BJP’s ‘Kam Roko’ campaign has come to the fore in the arbitrary transfer of 5,000 teachers of the Kejriwal government’s schools. This decision taken by the officials under the pressure of LG of the BJP-led central government is not acceptable to the parents of children and teacher organizations at all. This decision has been taken against the wishes of Education Minister Atishi. Its only purpose is to commit corruption.
Addressing a press conference here today, AAP Delhi State Convenor and Cabinet Minister Shri Gopal Rai said the BJP has been running a ‘Kam roko’ campaign for the last several years to stop the work of the Kejriwal government in Delhi and now it is reaching its peak. The entire country knows that today Delhi’s education model is being discussed in the world. The government education system in the country was slowly collapsing and people had accepted that government schools cannot be improved. Poor people used to send their children to government schools out of compulsion. At that time, the Aam Aadmi Party government in Delhi under the leadership of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal completely changed this thinking of the people. We not only changed people’s thinking, but also proved that government schools can be way better than private schools. We proved that children could get better education in government schools, and they can also give better results.
Shri Gopal Rai stated, “This change in the government schools of Delhi was felt by the whole country and the world, including Delhi. The biggest example of this is that when the US President came to visit India, his wife, the First Lady of America, first expressed her desire to see the government schools of Delhi. Before this, no head of state of any country had ever expressed a desire to see the government schools of any state during his visit to India. The biggest reason for this is that today the entire world is facing the challenge of the government education system, and Arvind Kejriwal’s government in Delhi has presented a solution to it in front of the world.”
He continued that today with the birth of a child, his parents start thinking that they have to give a good education to their child and for this, the better schools in which they can get him admitted are private schools. Today, children studying in government schools in Delhi have consistently set a record of getting better results than the private schools of Delhi. But today, under its ‘Kam Roko Abhiyan’, the BJP has started a campaign to ruin this entire education system by putting mental pressure on the officials of Delhi. The biggest proof of this is that today 5,000 teachers were transferred overnight without any criteria.
“On June 11, the officials of the education department issued an order that any teacher who has been teaching in a school for more than 10 years will be transferred from there to another place. They do not know that our teachers are the backbone of the transformation of the education system in Delhi,” he added.
The senior AAP leader said that when a government schoolteacher anywhere in the country tells that he is a teacher in a government or primary school, then only one thing comes to people’s mind that there is no education in government schools. On the other hand, today, if a Delhi government teacher goes somewhere and tells that he teaches in government schools of Delhi, then people look at him with respect. This transformation has been possible due to the training of these teachers in the best educational institutions of the country and the world. Bureaucracy has ruined government schools in the entire country, including Delhi. The arbitrary administrative stick used by the bureaucracy and the corruption of transfer-posting has destroyed government schools. This was eradicated in Delhi. Teachers were given respect and freedom; they were given training, and they were made to feel that these children and schools are yours. They were emotionally connected to the education system. The result of this was that the same teachers started considering those children as their own. They started giving love and good education to the children. Delhi set this record, added Shri Gopal Rai.
“It is understandable that if the performance of a teacher is not good then he/she is transferred. But without any assessment, more than 5000 teachers were transferred in just one night. The feelings of many children are attached to those teachers. Only the teacher knows better what the condition of a child is. Now when new admission, new study session is about to start, these teachers were suddenly transferred. You have no idea that connecting with the mindset of a child from a poor family, educating their parents, guiding them in parent teacher meetings and preparing them to teach their children is not a one-day job. The teachers have nurtured those students like their own children. They have given them good education,” he asserted.
Shri Gopal Rai said that it is clear that the way BJP’s ‘Kam Roko’ campaign is going on in Delhi, its most dangerous face is this attempt to ruin the government schools of Delhi. The BJP government at the Centre has taken its first step for this by putting pressure on the government officials. This is not acceptable to the Teachers’ Union who raise their voice for the rights of the teachers along with the people of Delhi. Delhi’s Education Minister Atishi ordered to stop the transfer of teachers, but despite this, these teachers were transferred.
“On 11 June, the officials of the Education Department ordered the transfer. After this, Education Minister Atishi held a meeting with the Secretary, Director and Director of the Education Department on 1 July and ordered that the teachers should not be transferred. These transfers will shake the foundation of the education system of the Delhi government. They will break the bonding between students and teachers. But despite the order of the Education Minister of Delhi, 5000 teachers were transferred and sent to another place overnight on 2 July,” he stated.
Shri Gopal Rai further requested the LG and stated, “I request the LG of Delhi not to become a part of the BJP’s ‘Kam Roko Abhiyan’ and ruin the future of lakhs of children studying in government schools of Delhi. These transfers should be stopped immediately. Today, voices are being raised from all sides that this transfer-posting has been done only for corruption. This business of transfer-posting has been started only to make money in it. These transfers should be stopped with immediate effect and an inquiry should be conducted into them and action should be taken against the guilty officers.”
The AAP Delhi State Convenor said this request today is not only of the Aam Aadmi Party or those teachers, but of those lakhs of children and their parents that you are stopping everything in Delhi, but at least do not stop the future of these children. Delhi has achieved this status of government schools with great difficulty. Do not play with the future of these children. LG should intervene in this matter and stop these transfers and these corruption charges should be investigated. The BJP should not take this stigma on its head that by stopping Kejriwal’s work, it has put the future of Delhi’s children at stake. The BJP should keep its ‘Kam Roko Abhiyan’ away from these children, he concluded.
