  • People back Doorstep Delivery of Services Scheme
  • People tired to paying to touts, queues and numerous visits to government offices for a single job

The Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, Shri Manish Sisodia, on Thursday December 28 visited the District Magistrate’s Office in Nandnagri to take stock of delivery of services to the people and to take their feedback.

Shri Sisodia interacted with people standing in the long queues at the DM Office to get their job done at the government office.

People told the Deputy Chief Minister that they have to stand for long hours in the queue and have to visit the office time and again to get their job done; this makes them either spend a lot on visiting the office numerous times or have to pay to the touts to get their job done fast.

“There is no point having online services, when we still have to visit these offices. Even the senior citizens who are unable to walk need to come to the office. These services should be delivered at home,” people told the Deputy Chief Minister.

When Mr. Sisodia told an elderly citizen about the Doorstep Delivery Scheme, he was very happy to know about it and said that huge sum of money is spent in commuting to the government offices to get the job done. The scheme should be implemented so that we get the services at home.

The public in general lauded the scheme designed by the Delhi Government to provide citizens with 40-services initially at their doorstep.

After interacting with the people at the DM office, the Deputy Chief Minister said, “Delhi Government had formed a scheme, the Doorstep Delivery of Services Scheme, so that residents of Delhi get their entire job done sitting at home. A resident will only be required to make a call on the helpline number and an executive will come and do all the paper work and get the job done. The beneficiary resident will not be required to visit the government office, this is doorstep delivery. Hon’ble LG said that executives going to the residents to deliver services will increase traffic and pollution. Actually, the doorstep delivery will end corruption. It will put an end to the numerous visits of the people to government offices to get their job done. People are now taking leaves to visit these offices, they will not need any leave once doorstep delivery comes into effect – the executive will visit them at a time & date of their choice. At present people are paying touts to get their job done, this will be done away with once the scheme comes in effect.”

The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor on Wednesday had sent the file of Doorstep Delivery back saying that the scheme is not good and the Delhi Government should reconsider it.
