New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal strongly rejected the recent report on water quality in Delhi released by Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan that said Delhi’s water is unsafe. Quoting the Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, CM Kejriwal said, “On 26 September 2019, Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said that Delhi’s water quality is better than European standards. From 20 locations in Delhi, the Union Water Ministry collected samples to come to this conclusion. All were better than European standards. These are his words, not mine.”
CM Kejriwal also recalled that the Union Water Minister’s statement came a day after Shekhawat’s cabinet colleague Ram Vilas Paswan had raised questions about the potability of tap water in Delhi. “When asked, Mr Shekhawat termed the statement of Mr Paswan as his personal opinion. On 6 October 2019, BJP Manoj Tiwari defended the Union Water Minister Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and agreed that Delhi’s water quality is better than European standards,” the chief Minister added.
“Shri Ram Vilas Paswan’s statement was reportedly based on samples from 11 places. From just 11 samples, a city’s water quality can’t be declared as good or bad. We also didn’t get any answer when we requested for the details of the places in Delhi from where the samples were collected. Was there anything to be hidden? As per the WHO standards, there should be one sample collected for every 10000 people in cities. There should have been 2000 samples taken in Delhi. Now, which Minister is correct – The Union Jal Shakti Minister or Ram Vilas Paswan or Manoj Tiwari?” CM Kejriwal asked.
“Delhi Jal Board collects 500 samples every day from different places in Delhi. Between 01 January and 24 September 2019, Delhi Jal Board collected 155302 samples. Among them, only 2222 samples i.e. just 1.43% failed, while 153080 samples passed i.e. 98.57%. Again in October, Delhi Jal Board collected 16502 samples, among which only 3.98% samples (658) failed, while 96.02% (15844) passed. As per WHO norms, allowable limit of unsatisfactory results is 5%. Delhi’s performance is comfortably within WHO norms”, said the Chief Minister.
“In the coming days, Delhi Jal Board will collect water samples randomly from five places in every MCD ward and test for quality. We’ll invite the media and Shri Ram Vilas Paswan also. After testing these samples, findings along with the sources of samples will be made public”, said the Chief Minister.
“We are not claiming that all problems in Delhi have been solved. In the past 70 years, various governments ruined development in Delhi. Everything can’t be done in five years. Still in the last five years we worked very hard to provide various facilities to people. In many colonies Delhi government laid new water pipelines. We are replacing the sewer lines in many colonies so that drinking water won’t be mixed with sewage and also implementing many projects to improve the quality of tap water in Delhi. It is a work in progress. Regarding water connections and quality of water, in the last five years Delhi witnessed an unimaginable change,” said the Chief Minister.

दिल्ली के मुख्यमंत्री अरविंद केजरीवाल ने दिल्ली में पानी की गुणवत्ता पर हो रही राजनीति का करारा जवाब दिया है। उन्होंने कहा कि दिल्ली का पानी केंद्रीय जल मंत्री और डब्ल्यूएचओ के मानक पर खरा उतर चुका है। केंद्रीय जल मंत्री दिल्ली में 20 जगहों के नमूने के आधार पर कह चुके हैं कि दिल्ली का पानी यूरोपीय शहरों से बेहतर है, फिर इसपर हो रही राजनीति ठीक नहीं है। मुख्यमंत्री अरविंद केजरीवाल ने कहा कि आने वाले दिनों में दिल्ली जल बोर्ड हर वार्ड से 5 नमूना लेगा। पूरी दिल्ली से करीब दो हजार नमूने लिए जाएंगे, जिसकी रिपोर्ट जनता के सामने रखी जाएगी। अरविंद केजरीवाल ने इसके लिए केंद्रीय खाद्य मंत्री रामविलास पासवान को पत्र लिखकर आमंत्रित भी किया है। मुख्यमंत्री ने कहा भले ही रामविलास पासवान जी हमें 11 नमूनों के स्थान की जानकारी नहीं दे रहे हैं, लेकिन हम चाहते हैं कि वह हमारे साथ चलकर पानी का नमूना लें। मुख्यमंत्री ने कहा दिल्ली में पानी की गुणवत्ता पर हो रही राजनीति ठीक नहीं है।
पूर्व में रामविलास पासवान जी के बयान को निजी राय बता चुके हैं केंद्रीय जल मंत्री – सीएम
मुख्यमंत्री ने कहा कि केंद्रीय जल मंत्री गजेंद्र सिंह शेखावत ने 26 सितंबर 2019 को बताया था कि दिल्ली का पानी यूरोपीय शहरों से बेहतर है। 6 अक्टूबर को दिल्ली के प्रदेश अध्यक्ष मनोज तिवारी ने भी केंद्रीय जल मंत्री के बयान का समर्थन किया था। केंद्रीय जल मंत्री ने दिल्ली में 20 जगहों से लिए गए पानी के नमूने की रिपोर्ट के आधार पर अपनी बात कही थी। अरविंद केजरीवाल ने यह भी याद किया कि पूर्व में केंद्रीय जल मंत्री दिल्ली की पानी पर केंद्रीय खाद्य मंत्री राम विलास पालवान के बयान को उनकी निजी राय बता चुके हैं।
11 नमूनों से दो करोड़ जनसंख्या वाले शहर की पानी की गुणवत्ता बताया ही नहीं जा सकता – सीएम
मुख्यमंत्री अरविंद केजरीवाल ने कहा कि दिल्ली की पानी पर केंद्रीय मंत्री राम विलास पासवान जी का ताजा बयान 11 स्थानों से लिए गए पानी के नमूने को आधार बनाकर दिए जाने की जानकारी मिली है। सीएम ने कहा कि हमने उन स्थानों की सूची मांगी, वह सूची हमें नहीं दी गई। सीएम ने यह भी कहा कि दो करोड़ की जनसंख्या वाले शहर में पानी की गुणवत्ता को सिर्फ 11 जगहों से लिए गए नमूनों के आधार पर बताया ही नहीं जा सकता है।
डब्ल्यूएचओ के मानकों पर खरा है दिल्ली का पानी – मुख्यमंत्री
सीएम अरविंद केजरीवाल ने कहा डब्ल्यूएचओ के मानकों के अनुसार दस हजार की जनसंख्या पर एक नमूना एकत्र किया जाना चाहिए। इस लिहाज से कम से कम दिल्ली में 2000 नमूने लेने चाहिए थे। दिल्ली जल बोर्ड की ओर से दिल्ली में विभिन्न स्थानों से हर रोज 500 नमूने लिए जाते है। 01 जनवरी और 24 सितंबर 2019 को दिल्ली जल बोर्ड ने 155302 नमूने एकत्र किए। उनमें से केवल 2222 नमूने यानि सिर्फ 1.43 प्रतिशत ही असफल रहे। अक्टूबर में फिर से दिल्ली जल बोर्ड ने 16502 नमूने एकत्र किए, जिनमें से केवल 3.98 प्रतिशि नमूने (658) फेल हुए। जबकि 96.02 प्रतिशत (15844) पास हुए। डब्ल्यूएचओ के मानदंडों के अनुसार पानी का नमूना फेल होने की स्वीकार्य सीमा 5 प्रतिशत है। दिल्ली का प्रदर्शन इस मानदंडों के अंदर ही आता है।
जल बोर्ड हर वार्ड से पांच नमूना लेकर जनता के सामने रखेगी रिपोर्ट – सीएम
मुख्यमंत्री अरविंद केजरीवाल ने कहा कि आने वाले दिनों में दिल्ली जल बोर्ड हर वार्ड से रेंडम पांच पानी के नमूने एकत्र करेगा। हम मीडिया और राम विलास पासवान जी को आमंत्रित करेंगे। उन नमूनों की जांच रिपोर्ट को सार्वजनिक किया जाएगा। जिससे दिल्ली की पानी पर हो रही राजनीति का सच सामने आ सके।
