·        FOR AN AAM AADMI OF DELHI, THE DELHI METRO FARES ARE TOO HIGH. : DY CMSHRI MANISH SISODIA

·        DELHI METRO IS NOT ACCEPTING THE FACT THAT THE FARES ARE TOO HIGH, WHERE THERE IS A WILL, THERE IS A WAY.: SHRI MANISH SISODIA

New Delhi: 31/12/2018

Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister, Shri  Manish Sisodia & the Union Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs Shri Hardeep S Puri inaugurated the Mayur Vihar to Lajpat Nagar metro corridor today morning.

Saluting the engineers on the occasion, the Dy CM Shri Manish Sisodia said “70% of Delhi’s land is covered by unauthorized colonies, slums, and in that sort of setup, providing quality public transport was a challenge, & DMRC accepted it. Today Delhi metro passes through these very complex areas, overhead or underground,” Which is really praise worthy.

The Deputy Chief Minister said, “Th Mayur Vihar-Lajpat Nagar stretch of the Pink line is a feat of civil engineering. It is a day for us to salute our engineers. With East Delhi and South Delhi now connected by Metro, today is a very special day for me as the MLA of Patparganj. We have also given the go-ahead for Phase 4 of the Delhi Metro.”

“Delhi Metro is a necessity for Delhi’s residents; it is not a luxury. The fares of the Metro are too high for ordinary commuters of the city. Comparing Delhi Metro fares with those of Metros in other countries is unfair. The higher fares in other countries correspond with higher per capita income, GDP and minimum wages. These are important factors to consider when fares are fixed. The manner in which Delhi Metro engineering has made the impossible possible, I urge them to consider Delhi’s socio-economic realities and resolve this problem through ‘economic engineering’,” he said. “Today Delhi Metro is not even acknowledging the fact that fares are too high. The day this realisation dawns, they will find a way to reduce fares too,” he added.

Garud Apartment’s park should be restored.

The Dy CM also made a special request to Delhi metro on this occasion. He said that when the construction work was about to start, the park in front of Garud Apartments in Patparganj was taken over by Delhi Metro. Now that the construction work is over, and the locals demand the restoration of the park. As the MLA of the constituency, I request DMRC to restore, or even beautify the park. The locals would be benefitted & they’ll feel very satisfied with DMRC.
