  • Deputy CM approves setting-up of the first centre at Delhi Emporium
  • The Emporium has sufficient space available to accommodate this Centre

Deputy Chief Minister, Shri Manish Sisodia on Wednesday approved the setting-up of first Incubation/Innovation Centre for the national capital at the Delhi Emporium, Baba Kharag Marg, New Delhi.

Shri Sisodia stated that the Delhi Emporium has ample space to accommodate the Incubation Centre, and it is ideally located centrally to attract young entrepreneurs easily.

(Delhi Emporium has a total carpet area of 7,476 square feet – first, second and third floors have 2,492 square feet area each available to accommodate this Centre)

The idea of setting up an Incubation Centre in Delhi was developed during the Innovation Summit at Hyderabad in November last year, which was attended by the Deputy Chief Minister along with the Industries Minister Mr Satyendar Jain and senior officials of the concerned departments.

Delhi being the national capital and centre of economic, social, educational and technological activities is ideally placed for developing itself as a major centre of Innovation and Start-up Culture.

Need has been felt for making available the necessary infrastructure to set-up a community led incubator which will aid a significant number of entrepreneurs as compared to regular incubators which focus on 40-50 start-ups and Innovators at a time.

The Innovation Incubator will house atleast 50 plus Innovators and Startups at any point of time and provide them with all amenities required to sucees – the ecosystem created will enhance member knowledge, build networks and aid start-up funding. This incubator centre will work with entrepreneurs and raise the profile of its community of Innovators and start-ups, thus creating jobs for the betterment of the economy of Delhi.

The Innovation Incubation Center would be an independent registered non-profit organisation and would become the intersection of the start-up community, government, corporate, academic and research sector. The endeavour will be to build a booming start-up ecosystem thriving on the tightly knit, most vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem in the country.

Primary Objectives

  • To promote and unleash the entrepreneurial potential of the youth
  • To support potential entrepreneurs in converting their business ideas/dreams into existing businesses.
  • Promote local technologies to foreign entrepreneurs and share best practices with other states.

THIS WOULD BE ONE OF A FIND CENTRE WHICH WOULD HAVE A HOSTEL CUM RESIDENCY FACILITY ALSO TO BE OFFERED TO ITS ENTREPRENEURS AND RESEARCHERS.

Suggested sectors and areas : Renewable Energy, Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, Automation, Education, Tech-Innovation, Environment Protection, Urban Infrastructure Planning & Development, Big Data, Solid Waste Management and Control of Ambient Air Pollution.
