The Government of Delhi has geared up for making elaborate arrangements for Chhath Puja celebrations in Delhi, which has started from today. Government has chalked out a plan under which the arrangements made on all the Ghats will be supervised and inspected by the team of public representatives, officers and officials the concerned Departments.

The minister of Development and Labour, Shri Gopal Rai, while informing the media said that the Government of Delhi has developed and 565 Chhath Puja Ghats in the different localities in the entire Delhi which includes 50 Pucca Ghats  and rest semi Pucca Ghats for the ease and use of the people for performing Puja.

Shri Rai informed that last year only 268 Ghats were prepared and developed, while this year Government has developed 565 Ghats.

Shri Rai further informed that uptill now  know separate budget was made available for developing and constructing the Chhath Puja Ghats in Delhi but this year the Government has year marked and allocated a separate budget of Rs. 20 crore for developing the Puja Ghats.

He informed that the Government sought proposals from the MLAs and Councilors seeking lists of the places of their respective areas for developing the Chhath Puja Ghats. The entire lists were thoroughly discussed, approved and handed over to the Irrigation and Flood Control Department for developing these Ghats.

Government has regularly monitoring the preparedness & arrangements to be done at the Puja Ghats at the level of the Minister of Development (himself) and at the level of Chief Minister holding the review meeting.

Shri Rai further informed that the Delhi Government has declared 26th October as public holiday on the occasion of Chhath Puja. The proposal has been forwarded to Lt. Governor for approval and notification thereof will soon be issued.

He said that the Department of Revenue and Delhi Tirth Yatra Samiti wil arrange for the tentage, temporary toilets, ambulances, lighting, seating arrangements, drinking water and other requisite arrangements.

The disaster managements teams have been deployed at the different Ghats to meet any untoward situation.

Shri Rai informed that the MLAs, SDMs, Assistant Engineers, JEs will inspects all the Ghats in their respective areas and will take stock of situation on 25th & 26th October, while Chief Minister and All the Ministers will inspect the Ghats on 27th October during Puja celebration.
