Delhi government will soon send 90 principals of its government schools to the renowned Cambridge University in the United Kingdom for a leadership training exercise, as part of its teachers training initiative.
In this regard, Cambridge University’s two officers Jaydeep Prabhu and Harold Chi met Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister Mr Manish Sisodia at the Delhi Secretariat on Monday. Delhi government has allocated Rs 102 crore for international training of principals and teachers in the budget for the current financial year.
As a first step, 90 principals will be sent to the Cambridge University in three batches. This training or Education leadership programme will span over 10 days. Apart from visiting the Cambridge University, principals and teachers will also be sent to other top institutions and universities like Oxford, Harvard, IITs and IIMs.
During their meeting with the deputy CM, the officials from Cambridge revealed that the principals going for training would also be visiting the local schools to understand the education system of UK in detail. In addition, they will also have an opportunity to interact with the teachers of Government schools there.
It has been agreed that the teachers conducting leadership training exercise in Cambridge University would also be visiting Delhi and would interact with the principals of Government schools in Delhi to formulate the next steps of training programme. During the interaction with the officials of Cambridge University, Mr Sisodia said “our principals and teachers are very talented but we need to impart them with the necessary leadership skills.”

दिल्ली के सरकारी स्कूलों के प्रिंसिपल्स और टीचर्स को इंटरनेशनल ट्रेनिंग पर भेजने पर काम शुरू हो गया है। इस बारे में कैम्ब्रिज यूनिवर्सिटी के दो अधिकारियों जयदीप प्रभु और हारोल्ड ची ने आज दिल्ली सचिवालय में उप-मुख्यमंत्री और शिक्षा मंत्री मनीष सिसोदिया से मुलाकात की। सरकारी स्कूलों के प्रिंसिपल्स और टीचर्स की राष्ट्रीय-अंतरराष्ट्रीय स्तर पर ट्रेनिंग के लिए बजट में 102 करोड़ रुपये रखा गया है जो कि पिछले वर्ष के 9 करोड़ रुपये की तुलना में 11 गुना अधिक है। इसका लक्ष्य टीचर्स ट्रेनिंग पर फोकस है।
सबसे पहले 90 प्रिंसिपल्स को 3 बैच में कैम्ब्रिज यूनिवर्सिटी भेजा जाएगा। एजुकेशन लीडरशिप प्रोग्राम की ये ट्रेनिंग 10 दिन की है। कैम्ब्रिज यूनिवर्सिटी आईएएस अधिकारियों को भी लीडरशिप ट्रेनिंग देती है। कैम्ब्रिज के अलावा सरकारी स्कूलों के प्रिंसिपल्स और टीचर्स को आईआईटी, आईआईएम के साथ-साथ ऑक्सफोर्ड, हारवर्ड, एमआईटी जैसे अन्य विश्वविद्यालयों में भी भेजा जाएगा।
उप-मुख्यमंत्री के साथ बैठक के दौरान कैम्ब्रिज के अधिकारियों ने बताया कि ट्रेनिंग के लिए जाने वाले प्रिंसिपल्स को केवल क्लासरूम ट्रेनिंग नहीं दी जाएगी बल्कि उन्हें वहां के विभिन्न स्कूलों में ले जाया जाएगा जिससे वे वहां के सिस्टम को समझ सकें। इसके अलावा उन्हें वहां के सरकारी स्कूलों के प्रिंसिपल्स और टीचर्स के साथ संवाद का भी मौका मिलेगा।
उप-मुख्यमंत्री मनीष सिसोदिया के साथ बैठक में इस बैठक में ये भी सहमति बनी कि कैम्ब्रिज यूनिवर्सिटी में लीडर प्रोग्राम कराने वाले ट्रेनर्स दिल्ली भी आएंगे और यहां के सरकारी स्कूलों में जाकर प्रिंसिपल्स और टीचर्स के साथ बातचीत करके आगे की ट्रेनिंग का खाका तैयार करेंगे।
कैम्ब्रिज यूनिवर्सिटी के अधिकारियों के साथ बैठक के दौरान मनीष सिसोदिया ने कहा, हमारे प्रिंसिपल्स और टीचर्स बेहद टैलेंटेड हैं लेकिन उनमें लीडरशिप क्वालिटी विकसित करने की जरूरत है।
