Food and Civil Supplies Minister and MLA of Ballimaran Shri Imran Hussain held a review meeting today with officials of the Delhi Jal Board regarding issues of water supply in his constituency. The meeting was held to ensure smooth water supply in the area as deficiency in water supply was being faced by some residents in the area.

Shri Imran Hussain expressed his concern about various infrastructural issues and bottlenecks which have been obstructing smooth water supply to the residents. Further, he told the DJB officials of the need for equitable water distribution with increased water pressure for the residents of the area.

Delhi Jal Board officers were directed to repair or replace damaged water pipelines to ensure uninterrupted supply of fresh water in the area. The Minister also reviewed the work completion progress of various projects and directed the Delhi Jal Board officers to strictly adhere to the prescribed timelines. Shri Imran Hussain further emphasized that no laxity on the part of officials of the Delhi Jal Board will be tolerated. Water is a basic necessity, especially in view of the severe heat faced by Delhi residents during the summer season.

Shri Imran Hussain directed the officials of DJB to give clearance to new and stalled projects so as to ensure speedy work completion. The Minister also instructed DJB to prepare estimates of timelines and the submit the same to him, so that the various proposed development works could be completed on time. With the aim of providing basic amenities to the citizens and ensuring freshwater supply, the F&CS Minister directed the DJB officers to increase the capacity of pump sets to provide immediate relief to the affected residents.

The Minister also directed the officials to explore the feasibility of installing booster pumps in the area for equitable distribution of water. He reviewed the water boring work being carried out by Delhi Jal Board and directed the officials to complete the work expeditiously in view of the water requirements of the area during the summer months.

The Minister also reviewed the ongoing upgradation of the underground reservoir (UGR) in the area and asked the concerned officials to expedite completion of the same. He reiterated that the area’s residents would benefit greatly if water distribution is made equitable, with increased water pressure during the ongoing summer season.

Shri Imran Hussain also informed the officials that regular review meetings and daily progress monitoring will be carried on by the Minister to ensure timely completion of various works.
