AAP’s freshly elected MCD Deputy Mayor Shri Aaley Mohammad Iqbal thanked Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal and the people of Delhi for giving him this opportunity to serve the city, after his victory. He vowed to work hard to make sure that the works of the MCD will set a new standard for the rest of the country, just as the Delhi government’s work has become a highlight across the country.

Shri Aaley Mohd Iqbal also acknowledged that over the last 80 days, the work of the MCD has suffered because of BJP, but he assured that in the next 15 days, they will work tirelessly to catch up with all the pending works. He added that he and Mayor Dr Shelly Oberoi will work with all the councillors with full responsibility, and they will work day and night to show a new form of MCD under the leadership of Arvind Kejriwal.

He further stated that the victory of Aam Aadmi Party in the MCD elections is a win for the people of Delhi and their democratic process. He expressed his gratitude towards the people of Delhi who have reposed faith in him and the Aam Aadmi Party.

The Deputy Mayor also promised to fulfil the 10 guarantees that CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal has made before the public. He emphasised that they will do the work of the people of Delhi and ensure that all the guarantees made to them before the elections are fulfilled.

Shri Aaley Mohammad Iqbal was elected as the councillor from Ward 76 Chandni Mahal in Delhi. He defeated Irfan Malik of BJP and Mohammad Hamid of Congress in this election by a record margin of over 17,000 votes. Prior to this, he was a councillor in 2012 and 2017 as well, and was the chairman of the city zone of North MCD in 2012.
