SCERT Governing Council approves framework of entrepreneurship curriculum

  • Framework launch on February 13 to be held in Delhi
  • Entrepreneurship curriculum will have no exams, books or evaluation
  • Pilot launch in Delhi government schools in April, full launch in July

The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) in its governing council meeting chaired by the Education Minister of Delhi, Shri Manish Sisodia approved the framework of entrepreneurship curriculum.

The framework is now ready for a formal release on February 13, 2019. The framework has been made by a 16-member committee comprising of SCERT teachers, NCERT teachers working on entrepreneurship, teachers of prominent private schools and many experts of the field.

The framework will be launched on February 13 in Delhi. The Chief Minister will chair the programme and ace entrepreneur Sh. Dharampal ji of MDH Masala fame will be the chief guest on the occasion. The launch will also be attended by several other entrepreneurs from different fields.

The curriculum will be launched in 15 to 20 schools in April as a pilot and the full-fledged launch will be done in all Delhi government schools in July.

The entrepreneurship curriculum will be based on activity and there would be no evaluation, examination and books for the curriculum. It will be based on syllabus and learning sessions.

Entrepreneurship curriculum comes as the latest to equip and enhance the Delhi government students after the huge success of happiness curriculum in Delhi government schools. The Happiness curriculum has not only been appreciated in India but has received wide applause from all over the globe. The happiness curriculum has come as a fresh breeze of air in the Delhi government schools.

Happiness Curriculum is taught to the students from nursery to class 8th; entrepreneurship curriculum will be taught from class 9th to class 12th to equip the students to face the challenges of life after education better.

The thought of the Education Minister behind the launch of the entrepreneurship curriculum is to make the students of Delhi government job creators rather than being job seekers.

Shri Sisodia has expressed his confidence saying, “this initiative will open up a world of possibilities for the Delhi government schools as they explore various options and choose their profession. While this scientifically prepared curriculum is aimed at preparing the students better for their choice of professional journeys, it will invariably bring about a paradigm shift in the education system.”

“This curriculum is important because of the changing face and rapid pace of technology and also of the realities of today and tomorrow. The companies which are on top today might not exist after 25-years, they may be replaced by ventures that are at the start-up stage today,” said the Education Minister.
