AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal, led a Padyatra through the Wazirpur Assembly on Sunday. Engaging directly with residents, he discussed the progress made over the past decade under his leadership and his vision for the future of Delhi. Arvind Kejriwal touched upon key areas, including reliable electricity, affordable utilities, free healthcare and education, and infrastructure upgrades — warning that the BJP will roll back all of it if they mistakenly come back to power.
The Padyatra saw an outpouring of support for Arvind Kejriwal as he moved through the constituency. Streets were lined with enthusiastic residents and supporters eager to catch a glimpse of the AAP Convenor, greeting him with warmth and extending their hopes for another sweeping victory in Delhi.
Reflecting on his time in office, Arvind Kejriwal stated, “Ten years ago, the people of Delhi entrusted me with the responsibility of transforming their city. We have worked tirelessly to fulfil that promise, achieving more than any other government in the country.”
He pointed out that Delhi, unlike any other state, now enjoys 24-hour free electricity—a rarity elsewhere in India. “Ask your relatives in Uttar Pradesh or Bihar how often they have power cuts. The BJP governs 22 states; name one where electricity is available 24/7,” he emphasised. He cautioned that voting for BJP could result in a return to frequent power cuts and unstable services, undoing years of progress.
In a move celebrated across the capital, Arvind Kejriwal’s administration introduced zero-cost electricity for residents with usage up to 200 units and affordable bills for others. “Now, zero electricity bills are the norm for Delhiites, something no other state can boast,” he said, adding that before his administration, bills often reached as high as 10,000 rupees. He warned that a change in government could see high electricity costs returning, leaving families to choose between “paying bills or caring for their children.”
Arvind Kejriwal also reiterated his commitment to accessible & affordable water supply. “We made water free for the people, but some residents have reported high water bills as a result of political interference,” he said, noting that, if re-elected, he would waive outstanding water bills that citizens believe are erroneous. “There’s no need to worry. In March, I will make sure all old water bills are waived,” Arvind Kejriwal assured the audience.
Under Arvind Kejriwal’s leadership, the AAP government has also provided free bus transportation for women, established Mohalla Clinics offering free healthcare, and made significant strides in public education by creating top-quality schools. “Our government built schools that rival private institutions, ensuring every child has access to quality education,” Arvind Kejriwal said, pledging to expand these initiatives despite opposition from BJP. “Providing free medicine and treatment for the needy is a blessing,” he stated, stressing that any reduction in these services would harm vulnerable communities.
Arvind Kejriwal also acknowledged recent concerns about Delhi’s infrastructure, in his absence, promising immediate action. “I’m back, and I’ll make sure every issue is addressed. Repairs for roads and sewers are already underway, and we will continue improving every part of Delhi to give residents the city they deserve,” he affirmed.
Arvind Kejriwal concluded with a call to action for the people of Delhi, urging them to continue supporting AAP’s efforts to build a Delhi that is inclusive, efficient, and progressive. “We have come a long way, but there is still much to achieve. Together, we can make sure Delhi remains a model of good governance and a beacon for the rest of the country.”
