AAP National Convenor and Delhi CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal pledged to make Jalandhar better, cleaner, and more vibrant ahead of the upcoming LS by-poll. In a public meeting held alongside Punjab Chief Minister sardar Bhagwant Mann, Shri Arvind Kejriwal promised to address all problems faced by Jalandhar in coordination with their MP once they win the election. AAP will build a big hospital like PGI in Jalandhar, eliminate mountains of garbage and fix all broken roads,” he assured the crowd.

The AAP Convenor also highlighted the lack of progress in Jalandhar under the Congress MP’s leadership in the past 60 years. The public did not get anything, give a chance to AAP this time, he said. The AAP Convenor emphasised the AAP’s commitment to serving the people of Punjab with utmost sincerity. Within three months of forming the government, we made electricity free, and now 24×7 electricity supply has also started, he said.

He also mentioned how the AAP government imprisoned the minister who embezzled SC scholarship money in the previous government, ensuring that everyone now receives scholarships fairly. Shri Arvind Kejriwal further assured the public that any mistakes in ration distribution would be rectified and every cardholder would receive their rightful share.

The public meeting saw both Shri Arvind Kejriwal and Sardar Bhagwant Mann urging the people of Jalandhar to give the AAP a chance to serve them better. The party’s candidate Shri Sushil Kumar Rinku for the upcoming by-election for the Jalandhar Lok Sabha seat also received their full support.

AAP National Convenor Shri Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday held a jansabha in Jalandhar in support of the AAP candidate for the Jalandhar Lok Sabha by-poll, Shri Sushil Rinku. Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Bhagwant Mann was also present at the occasion.

Addressing the supporters, Shri Arvind Kejriwal said that a year ago the residents of Punjab provided tremendous support to the Aam Aadmi Party. The people of Punjab had given the Aam Aadmi Party 92 out of the 117 seats in the state. It was because of the love of the people that Sardar Bhagwant Mann went on to become the Chief Minister of Punjab, he said.

Shri Arvind Kejriwal said that over the last one year, one by one, the AAP Government in the state had begun to deliver on its ‘Guarantees’. He said that some people had come to him and said that this is not how politics is to be conducted. The person told the Delhi CM that promises should only be fulfilled in the months before the next election is due. “This person told me that if the promises of the people are fulfilled within a year of coming to power, then by the time the state goes into the next election, the people will not remember the work done by the government. I want to tell such people that AAP has not come to do politics. We have come here to serve the people of the state,” he said.

The AAP National Convenor pointed out that before the state assembly elections last year, while campaigning the leaders of AAP had said that they will ensure that the electricity bill of residents of the state become zero after the elections, then many people did not believe them. He said that the leaders of the Congress would go around telling the people that this was not possible as the state Budget was already in deficit. “The leaders of both the Akali Dal and the Congress would say that these are all lies and the AAP was not capable of providing free electricity to the residents. They would also point out that the state Budget was running in losses for several years. But within three months of coming to power, the AAP Government made sure that the people here got a zero electricity bill,” he said.

Shri Arvind Kejriwal also said that the Finance Minister of Punjab Shri Harpal Cheema informed him that there is no shortage of money with the state government, but the problem earlier was that all the money was going to the personal accounts of the politicians. “This is the same money that has always been there. Earlier it was going into the Swiss Bank accounts of these politicians, but now it is going into the state coffers. Sardar Bhagwant Mann is not giving this money out of his own pocket, Kejriwal is not giving this money from his own pocket. But this is the money that tax payers are giving to the government. But now this money is being used for the benefit of the state,” he said.

Shri Arvind Kejriwal said that in Jalandhar alone 38 Mohalla Clinics have been constructed in the last one year. He added that some of them were yet to be functional, but they will begin to function once the Model Code of Conduct in the Lok Sabha constituency is lifted. He said that the residents of the city will now be able to avail free treatment and free medicines in these clinics. He asked the people if they had seen any other government in the past that fulfills its promises to the residents of the state.

Speaking about the developmental work of the state government in the past one year, he said that the Punjab Government has already provided government jobs to more than 28,000 residents in the last one year, and added that in the coming years, several lakhs of government and private jobs will be provided to the citizens of the state. He also said that over 25,000 workers who had temporary government jobs have now been made permanent in the state, and pointed out that earlier the youth would climb on top of water tanks to demand jobs and said that now no one needs to do such things.

He also said that Chief Minister Sardar Bhagwant Mann is aware of all the problems faced by the residents of Jalandhar and work has already started on these projects. Shri Arvind Kejriwal pointed out that Jalandhar does not have a big government hospital and said that a major hospital like PGI will be built in the city. Pointing out the ‘mountains of garbage’ in the city, he said that Delhi has landfills that are ten times larger and those are being cleared off in record speed. He also assured the citizens of Jalandhar that their landfills will be cleared off within one year. Listing out some of the roads in the city that the residents want to be fixed like Deep Nagar Road in Jalandhar Camp, Adampur Main Road, Jalandhar West Main Road, Shri Arvind Kejriwal said that all of these roads and many more that need to be repaired will be done by the Bhagwant Mann-led government.

Pointing out that it will take time to solve all the problems of the people of Jalandhar and Punjab, Shri Arvind Kejriwal said that the AAP Government is already working very hard and it has effectively been able to tackle some of the major problems faced by the state such as ‘mafia raj’. “The biggest problem faced by the state government was when we brought an end to the sand mafia in the state. For a little while after that, the price of sand suddenly shot up, but eventually, it has now gone down. So, the people need to be a little patient and we assure them that we will solve all the problems of the state,” he said.

The Delhi CM also hit out at the previous Congress-led Government in the state for not disbursing the SC scholarship to the needy students. He also said that the minister who was responsible for usurping the money that belonged to the students has been sent to jail by Sardar Bhagwant Mann. “I have been informed that the students have once against started to receive their scholarship money. Some students might still be waiting for the money to come but I assure them that it will come into their accounts very soon,” he said.

Shri Arvind Kejriwal also said that the state government stands with the poor residents of the state and said that every needy person will be provided ration. “I have been told that some blue ration cards were mistakenly struck out and the people are facing trouble in receiving their ration, but our state government will look into the problem and get it solved at the earliest.

Urging the residents of Jalandhar to vote for AAP this time around, Shri Arvind Kejriwal pointed out that the people in this constituency have been voting for the Congress for the last 60 years. “You have all been voting for the Congress for 60 years now, but what have you got in return. Trust the Aam Aadmi Party this time around and vote for us this one time. Last year, the citizens of Punjab trusted us and brought us into power in the state, and so much of development has taken place since then,” he said.

The Delhi CM also requested the citizens to not waste their vote by bringing a Congress MP and said that at the state-level it is the AAP that is in power and therefore an MP from the party will be able to work in coordination with the state government. “For the development of Jalandhar, the state government and the MP need to work together and it will be smoother for the citizens if the MP of Jalandhar belongs to AAP. If you want there to be fights between the MP and state government, then you should vote for Congress, but if you want your roads to be improved and the landfills to be cleared out, then please vote for AAP,” he said.

He concluded by saying that just like how the people here had voted for AAP in the state assembly polls a year ago, he was hopeful that the people will once again vote for the AAP candidate Rinku and bring an AAP MP in Jalandhar for the first time.

Punjab CM Sardar Bhagwant Mann said that in 2019 he went to the Lok Sabha after being elected from Sangrur and raised the voice of the people in the Parliament. “Shri Arvind Kejriwal, believing in me, increased my responsibility by making me the CM of Punjab. The people of Punjab have created history by giving 92 out of 117 seats to the Aam Aadmi Party. The AAP government has so far given government jobs to about 28 thousand youths,” he said.

He added that now government schools are being transformed, as are government hospitals. He appealed to elect AAP’s candidate Shri Sushil Kumar Rinku as their MP. “I will tell him how to talk to Modi ji and bring money. These people only give the jumla of 15-15 lakh rupees, but do not give anything,” he added.
