Following the vision of Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal for the expeditious redressal of consumer grievances related to Weights & Measurement, Minister Shri Imran Hussain reviewed the status and process of pre-testing of a Mobile App developed by the Weights & Measures (Legal Metrology) Department. The advanced App has been developed by the Weights and Measures Department with the aim of facilitating the online registration and time-bound redressal of consumer grievances related to the Legal Metrology Act.

The Minister was informed by the Weights and Measures Department that the Mobile App “Maaptol Grievance” is running under the trial phase, which requires application testing as the Mobile app should be tested to ensure data consistency through the App. The Mobile App has been made available on the Google Play store for security testing of user credentials on the device to make it convenient as a trusted mobile application.

Shri Imran Hussain informed during the meeting that following the quality assurance and application security testing, the said Mobile App will be launched and dedicated to the citizens of Delhi by Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal very soon. Shri Imran Hussain further added, “The Arvind Kejriwal Government is keen on ensuring that the consumers are not overcharged for the packaged commodities i.e. above the MRP, and so that consumers get the due value of the cost paid for the commodities.”

Shri Imran Hussain said that various grievances related to goods or products could be registered on the app by a consumer or a complainant, including a deficiency in the mandatory declarations by the manufacturer or the packer or the importer on packaged goods, overcharging by retail shops or establishments, short supply of goods, the short weight of LPG in Gas cylinder, short supply of Petrol/Diesel by petrol pump, short supply of CNG by a CNG Pump outlet and weighbridges.

Shri Imran Hussain also added that the grievances lodged on the app would be addressed by the Weights and Measures Department, Delhi Government within 48 hours. The consumer may also upload photographs and the bill for the product through this App. The mobile application would also trace the location of the establishment through Google. For the convenience of the consumers, the Mobile App contains Guidelines for Consumers as well as FAQs for ease of access in lodging grievances. This online facility envisages the protection of consumer interest by quick online registration of grievances through a mobile phone and assures time-bound and effective redressal of consumer grievances while keeping the complaint consumer informed at each stage through SMS.
