Representatives from 360 villages in Delhi will gather at Jantar Mantar tomorrow to show their support for the protesting wrestlers on Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) call. The announcement was made by AAP Delhi State Convenor Shri Gopal Rai, on Tuesday. In addition to the village representatives, AAP’s MLAs and councillors from rural areas will also be in attendance to support the wrestlers and to discuss a strategy for the movement. The wrestlers have been protesting against the Wrestling Federation of India President and BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh who is facing sexual harrasment accusations from female wrestlers. Shri Gopal Rai stated that the Prime Minister once took pride in the performance of these wrestlers, but is now not listening to their voices. He also accused the BJP of doing bad propaganda against the wrestlers.

Aam Aadmi Party’s Delhi State Convenor and Cabinet Minister Shri Gopal Rai addressed an important press conference at the party headquarters today. He said, “The daughters of the nation, who have brought honor to the nation and are the pride of the whole country, have spent the last 9 days in the sweltering heat of Delhi’s Jantar Mantar. She is protesting, dealing with a mosquito infestation, and yesterday was still standing strong in the rain for their colleague’s justice. However, the country’s honorable Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, who once took pride in these athletes, is now unable to hear the voices of the daughters of this nation who have been protesting for the past nine days at Jantar Mantar. They do not have time to hear their side of the story or take their demands into account. On the contrary, he had to order even the Supreme Court to register an FIR against them. The Prime Minister is remaining silent, the Sports Minister is still unwilling to listen to them, and the entire Bharatiya Janata Party is actively spreading misinformation about them. The ways in which the farmer’s movement has been disparaged in every which way and how efforts have been made to undermine their morale. The BJP is currently attempting to undermine the confidence of these wrestlers in a similar manner. Also, Police is not allowing them to set up mike system and even tents in such weather.

He said, “Whatever is happening with these players, the whole country is watching and the voice of support of all the people is reaching Jantar Mantar through social media. However, if the Bharatiya Janata Party governance believes that only some few people are going there and that their movement will be put down as a result, then it’s their misunderstanding. Even during the farmers’ movement, they believed that we would put an end to them, accuse them of fraud, smear them by filing fake FIRs, or frighten them by installing barbed wire, but what actually happened? All three of the law had to step down in front of the farmer’s movement and kneel. People living the nation are becoming increasingly enraged with the Bharatiya Janata Party and the central government today, and the majority of these individuals are those who leave their homes to train for sports and honor their nation by dedicating their entire lives to it. And tomorrow the representatives of 360 villages of Delhi including MLAs, councilors and representatives of these areas will support these players by reaching Jantar Mantar . If the government does not pay attention, a plan will be devised at Jantar Mantar tomorrow by these representatives to spread this movement in every village of the country. Then, in order to ensure that they receive the proper justice, the voices of these players will be carried to all villages in regards to this movement.Because if the central government is in any kind of confusion that they will turn down the demand being raised by the players, then they should know that now the villagers are also gearing up for this movement and they will also sit at Jantar Mantar along with the players. So now in the first phase, tomorrow, representatives from Delhi’s 360 villages will arrive to Jantar Mantar to support these players and to outline their plan for moving ahead from Jantar Mantar.”
