Mayor of Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) Dr. Shelly Oberoi today inspected the under-construction MCD school building in Prem Nagar area of Karol Bagh zone. Delhi Government’s Social Welfare Minister Shri Raaj Kumar Anand accompanied the Mayor on the inspection. The Mayor reviewed the progress of construction work and directed the officials to expedite it so that the school building could be dedicated to the public soon. Additional Commissioner Ms. Sakshi Mittal, Zonal Deputy Commissioner Sh. Kumar Abhishek, local Councillor Ms. Runakshi Sharma and senior officers of the MCD were present on the occasion.

On this occasion, Dr Shelly Oberoi said that with construction of this school, residents of local colonies like Prem Nagar, Nehru Nagar, Baljeet Nagar, Punjabi Basti (Baljeet Nagar), West patel Nagar, Gayatri colony will be benefited and people from weaker section will be able to educate their children. “This school will run in two shifts and about 1000 children will study in one shift. The school will have a computer room, library room, science room, medical room, sports room etc. for the children,” he said.

During the inspection, the Mayor also interacted with the local people. Locals said that the public road is blocked due to the construction of the boundary wall of the school. The Mayor instructed the officers to find a solution of this problem so that the local residents do not face any inconvenience.

The Mayor said that on the lines of the Delhi government’s education model, MCD will also build new schools and provide quality education to the children of Delhi. She will continue to inspect other under construction MCD school buildings and will assure that they are completed on time so that the new schools could be dedicated to the people of Delhi.
