Cabinet Minister Shri Raaj Kumar Anand met with the family members of Krishna Kant Kapil, a Corona warrior who tragically lost his life while on duty due to COVID-19. In recognition of his service, the Delhi Government honoured him by presenting a Rs 1 crore cheque to his family. During the meeting, Shri Anand shared that Krishna Kant Kapil had been a teacher and a Corona warrior who selflessly served at the Hunger Relief Centre established by the Delhi Government in the Government Higher Secondary School in Rithala Zone during the COVID-19 pandemic. Sadly, he contracted the virus and fought a valiant battle in the hospital but succumbed to it.

The Minister said, “The Delhi Government stands in solidarity with the families of Corona warriors during these challenging times. While the ex-gratia amount cannot compensate for the loss suffered by the families, this financial assistance will support them in improving their future and easing their burden. The Kejriwal Government has provided one crore rupees as financial aid to the families of Corona warriors in Delhi who lost their lives while serving during the pandemic.”

Shri Anand emphasised that the government would provide all necessary assistance in the future as well. He explained, “During the pandemic, the Delhi government had established a hunger relief centre at the Government Higher Secondary School in Rithala Zone. Krishna Kant Kapil, a mathematics teacher at the school, served as a Corona warrior at this centre. However, on 28th April 2021, he developed symptoms such as high fever, cough, and headache. As his condition worsened, he was admitted to Brahm Shakti Hospital in Buddha Vihar on 11th May 2021. The test results on 13th May confirmed his COVID-19 infection. Despite receiving treatment at the hospital for over 10 days, Krishna Kant Kapil, unfortunately, succumbed to the battle against Corona.”

Shri Anand continued, “The Kejriwal government has honoured the families of over 70 Corona warriors in Delhi who tragically lost their lives during the pandemic by providing them with a Samman Rashi of Rs 1 crore each. The Delhi government stands firmly beside these families, ready to extend assistance whenever required. We express our profound gratitude to all our Corona warriors, who fearlessly served the people without considering their own lives.”
